“Ollie, we’ll meet you at the elevators,” he dismisses him from our presence and then takes me into a corridor away from the throng in the lobby.

Before he says anything to me he grabs my purse and turns my cell phone off.

“How did you…” And before I can finish my question his lips are against mine. I surrender to them without even thinking. I missed this so much. I missed him so much. But he betrayed me!

I push him away from me and raise my arm to slap him but he catches my wrist. “I knew you still loved me.”

“You are wrong! You deceitful, cowardice, jackal! Don’t ever touch me again!” I try to get away from him but his hand tightens on my wrist. “Let go of me, so help me, I will take you down!”

His look darkens and he steps closer to me so that he is right up to my face. I feel his breath caress me as he says, “I look forward to it.”

That’s it! I bring my knee up to his groin but he slaps it away with his free hand and pushes me up against the wall, pushing his body into mine so that I cannot move my legs to kick out at him. With my free hand I grab a handful of his hair and jerk his head back so that he has to fold over and step away from me. He moves his free hand onto my other wrist and tries to free his hair. With his head bent down and my legs free I again knee him but this time in his face. His head jerks up after the impact but he still doesn’t free his hands from my wrist. He throws me back into the wall and I try to slide away from him but only manage to land us both on the floor with him on top of me.

He now has both of my wrists pushed against my chest and is straddling my legs so that I cannot move. A triumphant smile plays on his lips as he looks down on me.

“Oh, how I have missed you, Lexi.” The demon toys with me.

“Get off me or I will scream until everyone in the lobby is surrounding us and hauling you off to jail.” I squirm underneath him, trying to find some way to break through.

“It would be so worth it,” he says but obliges and lets me go.

I really want to knock him on his ass at this moment but don’t want to give him anymore enjoyment in touching him. I stomp off in the direction of the elevators and Ollie waiting patiently.

Paranormal Romance
Date Published: Oct 2012

Carly Anders  is hearing voices in her head. Another one of her kind is trying to contact her. She knows of the malevolent freaks—others who are eternal like her and seek out the weak to inflict pain upon. For years, Carly has held up huge protective walls to keep herself and her secrets safe. Now, physically and mentally exhausted, Carly needs protection and rest.
She accepts the invitation to visit an internet friend who needs help appraising a collection of antique photographs.  The situation is not ideal, but Carly hopes a male presence in her life will deter the determined suitor who haunts her thoughts and dreams.
Daniel Tremont is not what Carly is expecting.
The former funeral director has a secret of his own. Not only is he eternal like Carly, he is her creation from all those years before—her abomination she thought she killed.
Daniel has been searching for Carly for years. He knows she is the piece of his life that he has been missing for so long. Now that he has found her, he has no intentions of letting her go.

EXCERPT

He waved a hand in front of her face, but she didn’t blink. The lights are on, but no one’s home.
“Carly, my angel,” he whispered and cupped her cheek into his palm. He revealed in the silkiness and warmth of her skin. Still, she didn’t react. She was almost…a zombie.
His own body jerked in reaction to the fear she was emanating. She was clearly sleepwalking and in the throes of one hell of a nightmare, yet she didn’t cry out any longer. It was all now playing out inside her mind.
     “Charlotte, see me,” he implored.
Her lips twitched at the mention of her real name.
     “See me,” he repeated.
Suddenly, her body gave way and she collapsed. Catching her, he lifted her into his arms and carried her to the bed. As he laid her down, her breathing became ragged. He placed a hand over her heart as it raced, and passed healing calmness through his hand, feeling the energy pulsate against her skin. Beneath his hand, he would feel her heartbeat slow to a normal rhythm.
“Daniel?” Her voice was mere caress.
“I’m here, my angel. You’re having a nightmare. You’re frightened. It’s okay now, I’m here, and I will never leave you,” he promised.
“Everyone leaves, Daniel. You can’t understand, you can’t…” Her body started to tremble.
He climbed onto the bed and straddled her body. Leaning close to her face, he said, “Carly, let go of your fear. I can take it. Let go and see me,” he commanded.
Her breath came out in a whoosh, and a wall of fear and resistance hit him like a blow from above. It wasn’t exactly painful, more startling than anything else.
His vision flip-flopped, and he could see an image from inside her mind of two souls forever entwined as the result of one act. It made perfect sense. She was reliving the day their souls became one. The day of the fire.
He then saw black, suffocating water. She was reliving her own death, as well.
As the visions left him, he was consumed with the mishmash of fear, loneliness, and resistance within her.
He had to make her understand that it was over. “I will never leave you, Carly. That is my promise to you,” he insisted.
A flicker of life ignited in her eyes. Her hands came up to his face, and to Daniel’s surprise, tears bubbled from his own eyes. He was releasing the pain and fear he had absorbed from his beloved.
“I’m so sorry, Daniel, so sorry,” she murmured.
“There’s nothing to be sorry for, my love. It’s over. It’s time to move forward now.”
“You don’t understand what I am, Daniel.”
“I do understand, Carly. I am what you are. See me for what I am.”
In his mind, he could see the moving clockwork gears of her thoughts once again as she tried to process what he was telling her to be true.
“Just accept it, and let’s move forward.”
She drew his face to hers and her lips parted beneath his. Time blurred and he drank in the essence of his Carly. Her soft, barely covered curves molded themselves against his the hard planes of his body. Her hands were under his t-shirt, her fingers stroking him.
If he pressed on, he knew she wouldn’t refuse him. But in her vulnerable state, he wouldn’t let anything progress further that night. Carly needed time to process everything that happened. There was plenty of time to pursue a physical relationship. They weren’t going any where…he hoped.

Blog Tour: Shaow Slayer by Laura A. H. Elliott

Ya Paranormal
(Book #2 in the Shadow Series)

Shadows will do anything to become human.
You see their influence everyday.
You say things you don’t mean or do things that aren’t like you.
You look, different.
Friends you’ve known forever suddenly never call.

As a freshman, Roxie just wants to fit in which is impossible because she barely runs into her friends at her huge high school. Adrianne’s disappearance and Hayden’s attention rock Roxie’s world. But nothing rocks it like the most gorgeous guy at school, Drew. And nothing is more important to Roxie than astral projecting back to Planet Popular to solve the mystery of the map. But that changes when Drew invites Roxie to homecoming. Hayden warns her that something’s wrong. Why would a guy like Drew like Roxie anyway? Drew must want something. Hayden’s right. Drew is…different. Planet Popular was just the beginning. Part of a bigger world, the Shadow World. There’s a war brewing between the world of humans and the world of shadows. When the shadow invasion begins at Roxie’s high school, she’ll not only fight for her life but the lives of her family and friends, when she discovers she’s the Shadow Slayer, the one human who can save Earth from the shadow onslaught. But, Roxie can’t even kill a spider. Oh yeah, there’s an evil English teacher, an enchanted play, a sword of Sandonian steel, a homecoming of horrors, and seven magic words too.

Excerpt

The band’s taken a break and we’re dancing slow to a song I’ve never heard before. It’s perfect for right now. My first dance at my first homecoming on Earth. I place my head on Drew’s chest and breathe easy for what seems like the very first time all night. He sighs, stroking my thumb with his. I could stay here forever.
“Sorry about that,” Drew says.
“Old girlfriend?” I ask, straightening up just a little, leaning my head back. I catch Drew staring down at me with his golden eyes and forget all about the way he tricked me at the labyrinth. One look at him and I melt.
“Very old.”
“Am I your girlfriend?” I can’t help it. The words just leave my lips, and in the silence after, I wish I had some sort of filter. A boyfriend filter that would stop me from asking lame questions like am I your girlfriend? I can’t help but think that Adrianne would never ask a question like that. And girls that do can’t help but sound kind of psycho. I can’t believe no one has heard from Adrianne. It’s been months.
“What do you think?”
I think I might be too young to feel the way I do about Drew, but it’s been hard coming back as a younger girl after I lived a day as a seventeen-year-old high school homecoming queen in the shadow world. Some things I can’t forget. Some things I can’t change. I’m older now. Even though I don’t look like it.
Drew slides his hands over my hips then they travel up, inch-by-inch, along my ribs. He grabs a hold of my hands and unwraps them from around his neck. We stand toe-to-toe facing each other. Drew spins me in a circle. The reflections from the disco ball shower us and make it seem like we’re dancing in a dream world. He spins me again then pulls me close. I bury my head in his chest and stare at our shadows on the floor. But I only see one. Mine.

Blog Tour: Matt Archer: Monster Hunter by Kendra C. Highley

Photobucket

Young Adult
Date to be Published: October 19, 2012

Matt Archer, an ordinary freshman living in Montana, discovers something unusual on a camping trip with his uncle. Monsters are real. And living in his backyard.

But that's not the half of it...throw in a mystical knife, a covert military unit of soldiers dedicated to eliminating walking nightmares, and a prophecy about a dark war, and Matt finds himself in a job he never imagined: monster hunter.
All this insanity will leave him wondering which is tougher--killing monsters, or asking Ella Mitchell for a date.

EXCERPT

Before I had a chance to dig out some marshmallows for s’mores, the air turned sharp and the wind gusted cold into the campfire, sending up sparks. Uncle Mike rose to his feet, with an intense, alert expression I’d never seen before—like he could eat a brick and enjoy the crunch.
Without looking at me, he said, “Weather’s changing; best to get inside the tent, where it’s warmer.”
With nothing else to do, we packed it in for the night. Mike didn’t allow me to bring a cell phone or anything else electronic on our trips. I could’ve played cards or something, but being outside always made me tired and I went to sleep early because, yes, I’m just that exciting. On the plus side, I had the craziest dream: Ella Mitchell ditched her boyfriend for me. That’s not weird—that’s plain, old wishful thinking. The weird part was that she hopped up on stage during assembly and stole the microphone from Principal Stevens to do it. Then I ran down the aisle to thunderous applause, swept her in my arms and….
“Get back!” Mike yelled.
I sat up in surprise to see shadows moving across the tent’s walls. One shadow was Mike's, distorted in the bright moonlight. The other…heck if I knew what it was. Bulky, taller than Mike by a long shot, it grunted and snorted like an angry pig. Was it a bear? I rubbed my eyes and squinted. No, definitely not a bear. The thing was much too big and shuffled along on two legs.
When it roared, it didn’t sound like any animal I’d ever heard, but more like a bulldozer’s engine. Every hair on my scalp stood up. Whatever this thing was, it wasn’t natural.

Blog Tour: Swamp Monster Massacre

Horror
Date Published: 10/2/12

The swamp belongs to them. Humans are only prey.
Deep in the overgrown swamps of Florida, where humans rarely dare to enter, lives a race of creatures long thought to be only the stuff of legend. They walk upright but are stronger, taller and more brutal than any man. And when a small boat of tourists, held captive by a fleeing criminal, accidentally kills one of the swamp dwellers’ young, the creatures are filled with a terrifyingly human emotion—a merciless lust for vengeance that will paint the trees red with blood.

My Rating:

My Review:
Its hard to make a reader 100% happy with any horror book or movie. You become attached to characters you dont want to see bite the big one. In this story its very apparent that you dont need to get attached to anyone, its definitely a HORROR everyone is fighting for their life and no one is going to be safe type of story.

Hunter Shea does a great job with adding in some comic relief and the overall action is great. Definitely a thrill ride that stays on hyper speed the entire read. You wont be bored that is for sure! Not for the faint of heart!

EXCERPT

Rooster had perfect eyesight, but he still couldn’t make out the tall, broad figure through the wall of rain and gloom. It had to be a man, and one hell of a big one at that. If Rooster was right, it was over seven feet tall, if not eight. It was hard to tell with it all hunched down, wrangling the kid.
“Noooo! Noooo! Noooo! Somebody help me!” the Italian kid bawled.
He was being lugged away from them by the ankle. He clawed at the sand in a futile attempt to halt his progress into the total darkness beyond the trees.
“Angelo!” his buddy shouted, running over to help.
Rooster was suddenly hit by an overwhelming odor that made the ball of mess in the water smell like potpourri. It was like a combination of gasoline, body odor, wet dog and the inside of a baby’s diaper. Everyone else must have smelled it, too, because he saw a lot of crinkled noses.
Suddenly, there was a loud roar, like what Rooster would imagine a tiger caught in a bear trap would sound like, that turned his blood to ice.
And it was coming from the thing carting the kid off.
The kid’s friend was almost on top of him, and there was another roar, followed by a hard slap and the kid went down like Tyson had given him an uppercut.
Rooster pulled the gun from his belt and cocked the hammer back.
A pair of red eyes cut through the murk, pausing for a moment on each one of them, taking them in, daring someone to make a move.
He took a few, slow steps forward, refusing to blink despite the irritating rivulets of water burning his eyes. The girl kept by his side.
That wasn’t no man holding the kid.
He couldn’t recall any man being over seven foot tall and covered with hair. Its hair was long and matted and he realized the awful stink was coming off of it in repulsive waves. There was a small, hairless patch of what looked to be rough, sun scorched skin just around the nose, eyes and mouth. But those eyes. Dear God, it was like looking into the eyes of Satan himself!
“Let me go!” the kid shouted, breaking the stare-down. He tried to kick the beast with his free leg, but it twisted his body with the ease of flicking a jump rope, causing him to miss badly. There was a loud crunch and the kid wailed so hard, Rooster thought his throat would burst.
“Was that his ankle?” the girl whispered.
Rooster nodded. He sure couldn’t think of any man that could crush another man’s bones like that.
“Shoot it,” the girl said.
He didn’t need to be told twice. Rooster raised the gun and squeezed the trigger. The gun went off at the exact same time as a flash of lightning lit up their world, temporarily blinding him. When he opened his eyes, the beast and the Italian kid were gone.
A swath of sawgrass waved from side to side, the fading sign of the monster’s quick escape. The only sound was the pounding of the rain on the water and the long, heavy leaves of the trees.
How did I miss it? There was no way it could have ducked his shot. Nothing on earth is that fast. Nothing.
He looked down at the girl. “Stay right here.”
Everyone else was huddled together by the wrecked boat. Rooster strode over to where the other kid lay, keeping his gun well out in front. His finger applied enough pressure on the trigger to make the gun go off with the slightest provocation. Bending down on one knee next to the kid, but keeping his eyes on the tree line where the monster had taken off, he gave him a soft slap on the cheek. The kid answered with a dull moan.
“You good enough to get up?” Rooster asked. His guts were pulled tight and his nose wanted to call it quits. The smell was even worse here.
“I…I think so.”
“Then do it quick. It ain’t safe here. I’ll help you.”
He lifted him with his free arm and walked backwards to the rest of the group.
The relentlessness of the rain eased up, signaling the beginning of the storm’s end. Less than a minute later, it had passed, leaving them soaked, confused and frightened. And true to Mick’s word, the heat came back with a vengeance, as did the mosquitoes.
“Anybody got a clue what the hell that was?” Rooster said. His head swiveled in every direction, waiting for it to reappear. His heart was beating so hard he thought it was going to turn his ribcage to dust.
All heads turned when the little guy stammered, “I think I do, but I sure do hope I’m wrong.”

Genre: Paranormal Romance

As frontman of up-and-coming rock band,
High Velocity, werewolf Zane Alexander has
everything a man could want: Fame, fortune,
friendship, and a pack to call home. Well,
almost everything. Despite being able to take
his pick of pretty much any woman, he wants
the one girl he can’t have—the one girl who’s eluded his every advance.Charlie Banks has
always had a thing for Zane, but being the band’s head of security, she knows firsthand just the
sort of guy he is. She’s determined not to become just another notch on his bedpost, but if
doesn’t stop the want for a mate curling in her gut. It’ll happen, someday—it just won’t be Zane.
She’s decided that it’s time to leave High Velocity, to find a nice little home and settle down to
live the rest of her life, away from sexy smiles and ripped bodies of rock stars. But when
someone threatens Zane’s life, she’s the only one he wants to protect him. Except, Zane has a
hidden agenda. One that involves claiming Charlie as his mate, once and for all.

EXCERPT

Breathing in short, sharp breaths, Zane followed her through the winding corridors of the
Richter Stadium, past the women’s bathrooms and down a flight of stairs. He held his breath
for a moment as he slid through the remaining security crew. His golden eyes zeroed in on the
whipcord lean beauty, a few dark curls coiling down from the sensible bun she always wore it in.
She stopped, hesitating right outside the doors. Two more steps and he’d lose her to the
nightlife, his identity keeping him from following her any farther. If fans saw him, his life
would become a hurricane of screams and groping hands. He wasn’t in the mood to put on his
usual charming-playboy air to deal with them and he knew that going furry on their asses would
damage his career.
Now or never. As she stepped out, he lurched forward, his pulse pounding furiously at his
throat, and he crossed the floor in three strides. His fingers curled around her shoulders, firm and
commanding, though he knew she hated it when he pulled the alpha role. She spun and her lips
formed a thin line, as if she’d been expecting this. She’d known. You couldn’t really lie to pack
and get away with it.
“Charlie.” The one word was all he could say before her eyes pinned him. They were pale
as a sheet of blue ice, staring up at him with a gentle ferocity that she’d only ever reserved for
him. He had no doubts that she wanted him—he’d smelled it on her in the past, saw the way she
looked at him sometimes, as if she was seeing through to his soul—but she was wary. Guarded.
The walls around her heart were made of marble and he was left pounding both fists against the
cool stone.
“You can’t leave.” His words were a statement. A fact.
“I can and I am,” she replied coolly.
“What about the guys? What about High Velocity? You’re just going to throw it all away?”
He was surprised at the intensity behind his words, but he was far from done. “Are we not paying
you enough? There’s always ways around that. How much will it take?”
She blew out a harsh expel of air and glanced down at his hand clamped around her arm, but
she didn’t bother to pull away. Her winter gaze met his molten gold once more. “I’ve made my
decision, Zane. You need to respect it. There comes a time in everyone’s career where they have
to make a choice and take a stand. This is it. I’ve put in my notice, I’ve followed protocol. There
shouldn’t be a problem.”
A growl slid up his throat, escaping with a rumble. “I don’t give a damn about protocol.
You could flash your tits to the crowd if you wanted and we still wouldn’t fire you. I don’t care.
You’re part of our group. And, like it or not, you’re part of the pack. My pack.”
“You and I both know that I’ve never really been part of the pack.” Her voice carried
a touch of wistfulness. She was right—she’d always been a bit of a loner, keeping herself
estranged from the members of Elysium, try as his parents might to welcome her in. But she’d
never been distant with Zane and the guys and he wasn’t about to let that happen. Not now.
“You’re staying.”
She lifted a brow. “Since when are you my master?”
“Since you started talking crazy shit about leaving us!” He tamped his anger back down. He
never had a temper. What was up with him? He took a deep breath, letting it whistle out his nose
as he tried to soften his posture, tried to be less demanding. “We need you. Okay? I respect your
decision to quit, but you don’t have to skip town and leave us. Just stay.” Please…
Her smile was tight. She shook her head slowly, like he just didn’t get it, and pulled free of
his grasp. “Goodbye, Zane.”

His mind spun, thoughts bouncing off the walls of his head as he tried to scrape ideas
together in a last-minute rush. He needed more time. He needed a damn good reason for her to
stay, but damn it, he couldn’t think! She turned around, agonizingly slow, and he could see the
muscles in her back through the crispness of her suit.
“Charlie. One last night.” His voice was soft, a plea in the undercurrent that he cursed
himself for exposing. She stopped and he moved forward until his chest was pressed against
her back, one arm wrapping around her waist. He pulled her against him, her body cupping his
perfectly, like it was made for him.
She stiffened, but he didn’t let her go. His arm snug around her, he rubbed his chin lightly
across the back of her neck, letting the stubble scrape gently against her skin. He murmured in
her ear, using the sexiest voice he could muster. His beautiful-girl voice. “Go for a run with me.
Tonight. One run.”
He’d figure something out between then and now. He’d get her back.

a finale you won’t see coming. Heart pounding action mixed with heartwarming friendships and

My Rating:

My Review:
Inger Iversen does a great job of taking the reader on a journey of emotions with this story. The romance was well developed and believable. The characters were strong and multi dimensional. The plot was interesting and unique.

Definitely something I would recommend!

EXCERPT
“I want to untie you, but I don’t want to regret doing so. Can we agree that everyone
will behave?” I looked at Kale, but all I received was a shrug and another grumble.
Jace’s blue eyes were glued to Kale.

“Ella, when I am untied, I will do whatever I can to take you back to the Council. I won’t
have this creature infect you.” Kale straightened up and moved closer to us.

“Over my dead body.” Jace’s slow, chilling smile revealed his white teeth. Though it was
beautiful, it freaked me out.

“Then it should be easy, Nosferat, seeing as how your heart no longer beats.” Jace
looked at Kale as if he would attack the first chance he got. At this rate, I would never be able
to get Kale and Jace to work together. Maybe Kale was right. We might be better off fending for
ourselves against Laurent.

“You mistake the fact you are still alive for weakness on my part, but I warn you that as
soon she sees you are not a necessary factor for her survival, I will finish what we started years
ago, Vesco,” Kale spat, with such malice that halfway through his words I turned around to face
him, not at all liking what I saw. His face was now plagued by hard lines, and his eyes, though
they were always dark, were darkened with loathing. I hardly recognized him. I didn't want to
believe Kale would truly kill Jace or anyone for that matter.

“Stop, Kale, you wouldn’t,” I whispered. I searched his face for the Kale I knew. I
understood the Council and vampires were enemies, but I couldn't see Kale killing Jace. It was
probably my naivety that pushed the idea that Kale was harmless.
“Yes, he would, Ella,” Jace said, pulling my attention back to his blue eyes. “It’s what he
is—a murderer fashioned only to steal what humans cannot live without and to spread his
disease. He was created by the Dark Prince. No matter how long he tries to deny his nature by
drinking from rats and squirrels, he will always be a threat to you and all others. Even more so
because he can walk in the light.

My plan to unite them to help me went right out the window. My body went cold, and I
sat there wondering why I’d even tried in the first place. Anger started to boil inside me, and I
gave in to it.

“Bullshit!” I yelled. “This is pure and utter bullshit.” I stood so fast that I almost
lost my footing.

Kale reached out to me, catching my arm and righting me quickly. I snatched my arm
from him and ignored his questioning eyes. I turned back to Jace. I looked him directly in his
eyes to get his full attention.

“You both say you want to protect me, and that’s fine. Even though I have no clue
of what’s going on in the full scheme of things, I am willing to let you both protect me, but

understand this. If you two cannot figure out how to get along long enough for us to make a
plan—other than taking me to the Council—I will do this without either of you!” I shouted, as
my anger reached a crescendo. “Also, I want to know everything, not just what you two think I
should know.” I gave Kale a pointed look.

He looked back at me with emotionless eyes. I hated when he blocked his feelings from
me. I gave mine so freely to him. That fueled my anger further, but Jace’s calm voice slowly
brought me down.

“What is it you propose we do?” Jace asked. “I can only assume from your tirade that
he has told you a few things about your past. The fact that you are only upset about that also
tells me he hasn’t told you why the Dark Prince has yet to find you.”

We both looked at Kale waiting for him to speak.

“Your silence, Nosferat, confirms that you have not told her the fire at the Ocean Trace
facility was your doing.”

I looked at Kale, confused. I had told him about my time in a facility, but I hadn’t told
him where it was.

“I told you I was here to protect you, Ella. I just never told you when that protection
started,” Kale explained and reached for me.

I was tempted to take his hand because it wasn’t often that he offered his touch, but I
ignored it. “Wait, are you saying you knew me before that first night we met?”

“Yes, I knew you in your last past life.”

Jace scoffed. “That is not what she meant, vampire.”

I couldn't understand why Kale was dancing around my question.

“Let’s go outside,” Kale said, turning toward the door before I could answer.

“She will freeze out there. I am sure she is already cold, especially seeing how the cold
sadness of lies and betrayals has found her here tonight.”

Though Jace’s clever remark didn't seem to affect Kale, it stung me. The words lies and
betrayals slapped me in the face, waking me from the stupid dream state I had allowed myself
to slip into.

“Ella, I have watched you for as long as the Council has believed you are the next Arc—
before your parents’ death until now,” Kale said sadly, as the trust that we had developed
between us started to fade.

I had been nothing but honest with him. I’d snuck around to see him, which put a strain
on Alex’s faith in me. But I couldn't truly blame Kale. Trusting a stranger with my secrets when

I had promised myself I would never do that again was my fault. With that in mind, I walked
over to Jace and untied his knots.

“Do not make me regret this. I have enough of those; I don’t need any more,” I said,
looking at them both. We needed to make a plan of action, but we couldn't do that until I was
told everything.
