(The Frey Saga Book 3)
Date Published: 10/8/12
Memories and magic recovered, Frey is restored to the throne. But as she works to regain control of the North, a small silver dagger nearly brings her end. She raises The Seven of her guard and proves her abilities in order to secure her position. But another attempt on her life, from what appears to be fey, reveals not all are pleased with her return. If she could only figure out the force behind the attacks, she might be able to relax enough to decide what to do about her other problem... Chevelle
Since the last book, Frey is starting to find herself again. After being thrown for a loop in book one and being utterly confused, she is slowly regaining her memories and continuing to learn new things about herself.
I felt like Melissa really stepped it up as far as Chavelle and the romance went. She is learning about a past they shared and trying to make sense of it all. Chavelle was my favorite character in this story apart from Frey of course.
I liked that Frey was a mystery and in Pieces of Eight the fact that we are learning more and more by the page and no longer in the dark, I was unable to put this down. I was loving seeing the mystery unravel. Melissa manages to give us great information in order to keep us happy, but still have enough mystery and suspense to keep us flipping the pages.
There is a perfect set up for Book 3 and I am even more eager to read book 3 than I have been for any books in the series.
