BLOG TOUR: Andrea Heltsley

Title: Dissolve
Author: Andrea Heltsley
Date Published: 4/04/12

Synopsis:
Everything seemed to be going right for Cora. She had a wonderful fiance, a great best friend and a fulfilling life. One day, a tragic event causes that life to crumble around her. She turns to her best friend in her time of need. They embark on a search for answers, delving deeper into a web of magic and destruction. The closer they get to the truth, the more questions they have. To Cora, magic was the stuff of fairy tales. Immersed into a very different kind of world, the real storm was just beginning to take hold.
“It felt like I was nowhere yet everywhere all at once. I was invisible and completely panicked. The millions of pieces I had dissolved to drift on the breeze and away from my nightmares. It was kind of like floating weightless in a pool, perfectly relaxing. The warm breeze from the window embraced and soothed me. I let the air current carry me as far as it could through the summer city.”
“Defeated, I closed my eyes and took a few calming breaths trying to relax myself. I pictured the dandelion in the park today and took a deep breath as to blow the fluffy seeds in all directions. I pretended I was light and fluffy and started to feel a tingling in my body. I began to feel as light as the dandelion seeds and soon I felt like mist floating. This time, I tried to keep myself in the room, swirling in a humid block.

My Review:
This is one of those stories, that falls in between YA Paranormal and Adult Paranormal. There is definite behavior that you dont typically see in a YA book, the characters are quite immature and act like those in a YA book though.

Cora is a very easy character to enjoy reading about even though she was a little too unemotional at times for what was happening to her. I didn't believe the loss of her fiance had enough of an impact on her first of all, and then when everything turned supernatural she just seemed to go with it... I for one would have been freaked out a bit more. Maybe had a temper tantrum or melt down or two?

I do wish the story would have focused more on Cora instead of adding all of the secondary characters. It felt a little forced and maybe took away from her development as a character.

I really liked the premise of this story, I did however feel that the story seemed to have A.D.D. at times. I felt like the storyline was jumping around a bit too much.  I think that while the execution was a little off on this one, Andrea Heltsley still managed to make a solid debut for herself.

(ARC) Review: Crazy on You by Rachel Gibson

Title: Crazy on You
Author: Rachel Gibson
Date to be Published: May 1, 2012
Publisher: Avon Books

Synopsis:
Return to Lovett, Texas, the setting of Daisy's Back in Town, in this smart and sexy new story from Rachel Gibson, the New York Times bestselling author of Rescue Me and the Seattle Chinooks books.

Lily Darlington's been called crazy in her day-and, yeah, driving her car into her ex-husband's living room probably wasn't the smartest move ever made-but the louse deserved it. Now Lily is happily single, and she's turned it all around. She knows she's a good mom, a homeowner, and a businesswoman, all wrapped up in one good-looking package.

A package that police officer Tucker Matthews is dying to unwrap. This ex-military man sure doesn't need another woman in his life. His last girlfriend left him with nothing but memories and a cat named Pinky! But living next door to Lily has been driving him nuts. He dreams about her long blonde hair and even longer legs. And maybe it's time to go a little crazy . . . and fall in love

My Rating:

My Review:
This book seems to be better if you have already ready Daisy's Back in Town. I can see how many people would not understand the back story or Lily's need to separate herself from her past image if they had not read Daisy's story.

This is just a Novella and while it was short and sweet, while it was laugh out loud funny a times and super steamy at other times, the relationship just didn't develop how I'm used to from Gibson's books.

Overall a fast read that is worth the time, just not up to the level of most Rachel Gibson books.

Author: Bernadette Walsh
Title: The House on Prospect
Date Published: 1/2012

Synopsis:
Ellen Murphy spent her childhood in an idyllic house by the sea. A house surrounded by flower-filled gardens and a white picket fence. A house she fled at eighteen. A house full of secrets.

But that is just one of the many secrets hidden behind the beautiful facade of the house on Prospect Road. Ellen discovers the high price both her mother and her Irish grandmother paid for the house on Prospect and she realizes that her meek mother is more of stranger to her than her absent father.

My Rating:

My Review:
I love having the opportunity to mix it up when it comes to reading. I read so many different genres, but I find myself getting stuck on one for weeks at a time. This was definitely a refreshing read!

Bernadette Walsh has created a story with characters so real and addictive I could not put it down. I got so drawn into their lives, which is a great accomplishment for any author. I've always said those are my favorite stories, where I feel so strongly about the characters.

Be ready to go on a roller coaster of emotions with this story, but it is definitely well worth the ride!

Author Bio:
I have always been a bookworm and had always meant to write a novel “someday.” You know, when I won the lottery and could live in beach house and look out onto the water and feel inspired. Four years ago I decided to stop waiting for my winning lottery ticket and sat down and started writing in between work and family obligations. I piled the words on top of each other until they formed sentences, paragraphs, chapters and eventually a book. The House on Prospect is my second novel. My first, a contemporary romance, Gold Coast Wives, was published in November 2011. The first book of my paranormal trilogy, Devil’s Mountain -- Book One of the Devlin Legacy, is due to be published in June 2012. While I’ve hopped around genres, all of my books to date have a common theme: strong women handling what life throws at them the best way they can.

(ARC) REVIEW: Keep Holding On by Susane Colosanti

Title: Keep Holding On
Author: Susane Colasanti
Date Published: 5/31/12
Publisher: Viking Juvenile
Source: Publisher

Synopsis:
Noelle's life is all about survival. Even her best friend doesn't know how much she gets bullied, or the ways her mom neglects her. Noelle's kept so much about her life a secret for so long that when her longtime crush Julian Porter starts paying attention to her, she's terrified. Surely it's safer to stay hidden than to risk the pain of a broken heart. But when the antagonism of her classmates takes a dramatic turn, Noelle realizes it's time to stand up for herself--and for the love that keeps her holding on.(

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

My Review:
I've read all of Susane Colasanti's books. I really feel like she writes such honest and real stories for teenagers.

This story is no different. Coloasanti takes on one of the biggest issues in America today, Bullying.

Reading this story just felt so real. The things that were said and done to these poor kids was just heartbreaking and its even more heartbreaking to know that things like this actually happen in schools everywhere.

Noelle is such a strong character, well at least she becomes such a strong character. I loved seeing her growth. To just sit back and watch for so long and finally stand up for not only herself, but others. It was great to see.

My Rating:

My Review:
Well, let me start by saying I feel like this book has been anticipated to death! Good lord, I thought we were never going to get Paris's story. He was literally the first one that grabbed my attention and we had to wait 9 books for his story! I am so glad we finally got it. I feel like this is a BDD Q&B thing. I wonder if we will ever get there story.

Anyways, Gena Showalter does not dissapoint! All of the hype is definitely lived up to.

Paris, goodness he is one Sexy man! Everything about him thus far just made you want to read about him. I loved getting inside his head and seeing the battle he went through with his demon.

The passion between Paris and Sienna is and always has been undeniable. The lengths he goes to just to be able to see and touch her in this story is out of this world.

Their HEA is definitely one thrill ride. Worth every single penny and every single minute!

LOVED IT!

BLOG TOUR: Cait Lavender

Title: Hunter Moon (Lupine Moon #1)
Author: Cait Lavender
Date Published: 3/1/12

Synopsis:
Bawling cattle tore Shelby Flint from her bed. With lawyer fees to pay in her struggle to keep her ranch from the clutches of her greedy cousins, she couldn’t afford the loss of even one calf. When she sees a large wolf circling her cows, she aims and fires. While the wolf escapes, Shelby can’t seem to get away from her troubles when a marijuana grower sets up shop on her land, sabotaging her property and eventually coming after her. Adding to that, a handsome game warden is poking his nose into her business and working his way underneath her skin. Shelby will have to fight harder than she ever fought before to keep from losing her heart and everything she ever loved.

My Rating:

My Review:
I could tell from the first paragraph of this book that I was going to love Shelby! She is my kind of heroine! Sarcastic, Sassy, and Tough as Nails!

OMG Cash! He is one sexy man! I loved his demeanor and the way he interacted with Shelby. There is a certain type of man it takes to tame a woman like Shelby and Cash is definitely that man. I loved their banter and that they didnt just fall into bed with each other. Shelby definitely made Cash work for it and Cash proved to be so sweet and patient when all was said and done.

The biggest reason this story got 4 starts instead of 5 was because of the fact that it had what seemed to me as an abrupt ending. I honestly thought my nook had frozen until I looked down at the page number. And it didn't feel like a cliffhanger moment. It just felt like, wow, was that it?

I definitely want more from this series though! A Great Paranormal Romance complete with one Hot Alpha Male Shifter, the epitomy of an Independent Woman, action and mystery, and a Steamy romance with major chemistry!

REVIEW: The 9th Dimension by Logan Grey

Title: The 9th Dimension
Author: Logan Grey

Strange alliances are made, heroes are forged and uncountable horrors are discovered..within The 9th Dimension.

My Rating:

My Review:
Sometimes you just dont know what to expect when you begin to read a novel. That is where I was with this one. Adrian knows what she wants and that is and has always been Nikolas. Unfortunately, when they finally have their moment, he tells her they should have never taken that step. Adrian is devastated and decides her long friendship with Nikolas must end. This part of flows a little too fast and we don't g et to connect as much with the heartbreak and feelings of both Adrian and Nikolas.

The Paranormal aspect of this book comes out of nowhere. Nikolas has a "friend" who visits him every couple of months and when she gets wind of Nikolas's feelings for Adrian, her jealousy leads to the death of Adrian (Via demonic summoning of a Jinn). Nikolas is devastated having lost the person he only just realized he loved.

Adrian is held captive by the Jinn and not dead as anyone believes. When Nikolas finds this out, he decides to go on a mission to save her, after recruiting some help from unlikely sources.

This was not a bad book, there were parts of the book that seemed a little disjointed, but overall I think it was a great premise and story line.  I wish we would have had more of a connection to the characters and I would have felt more invested in what was going on.

Action packed, this story is definitely a paranormal thrill ride.

Take Ram to her bed.

My Rating:

My Review:
So, I am a fan of Jennifer Lyon's books. I've read all 4 of the Wing Slayer novels to date. I love the world she has created and the battle each hero has to go through.

This one was no different. I loved the draw between the two main characters. The desire was undeniable. The time lapse in the book was needed and added more anticipation for their love to unfold.

I always love how the past Wing Slayer characters continue to have parts in the series.

I know this is just a Novella, but I hate that Ram and Ginny's story is left unfinished.

Great Paranormal Romance read! I really love this series and can not wait for more!

REVIEW: A Home By The Sea by Christina Skye

Title: A Home By The Sea (Summer Island #1)
Author: Christina Skye
Date Published: 10/18/11
Publisher: HQN

Synopsis:
Sometimes appearances aren't what they seem...

Grace Lindstrom has followed her fiance across three continents, starry-eyed and full of dreams. But when he dies in a plane crash, Grace discovers that their life together was the cruelest kind of lie--and swears to never lose herself to that kind of love again. Until one night, when a chance encounter leads her to the kind of man she's always dreamed of--and the deep family ties she's never known.

Noah McKay knows he can't offer Grace any kind of future--not when he spends every day putting his life on the line. But when Grace's grandfather suddenly falls ill and she's called home to the small island town where she grew up, he realizes he can't live without her. Aided by good knitting, good chocolate and deep friendship, Grace is slowly learning to trust again--but can she learn to love a man whose secrets run so deep?

My Rating:

My Review:
Grace is a broken character for many reasons. She lost the man she loved and then found out that he had a secret life she didn't know about and half of her friends knew and didn't tell her. She has major trust issues.

I love how Grace meets Noah. Of course, to her it seems like a coincidence, but Noah had his eye on her.

Grace has a hard time giving into Noah. She pushes him away on several occasions and they are thrust back together.

There is chemistry between the two characters but its nothing off the charts.

I think this was a sweet book. If you are a fan of romance and the typical man who is afraid of commitment and woman with trust issues, then you will definitely find this one worth reading.

Book TRAILER

EXCERPT

I sat up and followed Calixta’s gaze upward. I rubbed my eyes. I didn’t know what
I was seeing at first. A statue? My brain refused to snap together coherent thoughts. I
didn’t realize I’d fallen so close to one of the garden benches until I stared up at the boy
that sat on one. He was strikingly beautiful. His tumble of blonde hair curled just above
his sculpted cheekbones. He wore a silk shirt and a loosened cravat, like he’d become
bored while dressing and decided to leave himself in disarray. His ivory skin and
frozen position was what had me mistaking him for something carved from marble by
Michelangelo. Then he sighed—a lonely, breathy proof of life. If I had to imagine what
Lucifer looked like before he fell from heaven, the boy on the bench would certainly
fulfill that image. My brain told me I had to look away, but I couldn’t.

“Luka,” Calixta said again, her voice unsure, almost nervous. It no longer
contained the steel and bite she had threatened me with, which made me wonder who
the boy was.

He leaned on his hands and crossed his legs, all the while keeping his eyes fixed
on the night sky. His movements spoke of elegance and control. I’d encountered many
people with breeding before, but his took on the air of arrogance and selfassuredness of
someone used to getting what he wanted when he wanted it.

I only realized I’d been holding my breath when my lungs protested. I exhaled.
My heart sputtered and restarted with a vengeance. Luka tore his gaze away from the
stars and settled it on me. I’d expected pitchblack irises, like the other Night Students,
but blue ice stared back at me.

“Human,” he whispered.

He reached out, and with a finger, followed an invisible trail down my cheek. I
stiffened. His touch, cooler than Demitri’s, caused warm sparks to blossom on my face.
He lifted his finger to his lips and licked its tip. He might as well have licked me from the
way my body shivered.

Luka’s curious gaze held mine. “Leave us,” he said, but not to me.

“But—” Calixta protested like a spoiled child.

He spoke in a language I hadn’t heard before, remaining calm yet firm. The words
had a rolling cadence I couldn’t quite follow, like rumbling thunder in the distance. They
contained a harsh sensuality. The consonants were hard and the vowels were long and

Footsteps retreated behind me.

Luka reached out again.

It took me a minute to realize he wanted to help me up. I hesitated. He smiled.
I smiled back timidly and took his hand, completely dazzled. Even with my uniform
soaked from melted snow, I didn’t feel cold—all my attention was on him and the way
his callused hand felt on mine. Without moving much from his seated position, he
helped me stand.

“What’s your name?” he asked. He had a voice like a familiar lullaby. It filled my
heart to the brim with comfort.

I swallowed and tried to stop gawking. “Phoenix.”

“The bird that rose from the ashes.” Luka bent his head and kissed the back of my
hand. “It’s a pleasure meeting you.”

My cheeks warmed. My head reeled, not knowing what to think. I couldn’t
understand why I felt drawn to him. And the strange connection frightened me.

From behind, someone gripped my arms and yanked me away before I could sort
out the feelings Luka inspired in me. I found myself behind a towering figure yet again.
Recognizing the blueblack silk for hair tied at the nape, relief washed over me. Calixta
hadn’t come back to finish me off.

Demitri’s large hand wrapped around my wrist. Unlike the night before, no calm
existed in his demeanor. He trembled like a junky in need of a fix. The coiled power in
his tense muscles vibrated into me.

“What are you doing here?” Demitri asked.

I didn’t know he’d spoken to me until I saw his expressionless profile. I sighed.

“Phoenix.”

I flinched. The ruthless way he said my name punched all the air out of me. “You
owe me answers,” I said with as much bravado as I could muster.

“I owe you nothing.” He glared. “In fact, you owe me your life.”

“I don’t think so.”

Ignoring my indignation, he faced Luka, who’d remained seated on the bench
during my exchange with Demitri. “Why is she with you, Luka?”

“I wasn’t going to taste her, if that’s what you’re implying,” Luka said. “Although,
she is simply delicious. I wouldn’t mind if you left us alone.”

There it was again. Taste. The word that kept coming up between these Night
Students and I was connected to it in an increasingly uncomfortable way. To taste meant
to sample, but what? My flesh? They had to be joking because the alternative wasn’t

“The sins of the father …” Demitri left his sentence unfinished.

Luka’s smile shifted into a snarl. “Obey my command.” His chin lifted. “Kneel.”

Demitri’s stance went rigid. His grip tightened around my wrist.
Okay, weird just got weirder. Why would Luka want Demitri to kneel before him?
I thought back to Eli and the others bowing to Demitri when he questioned them, but
they didn’t kneel. Seriously? Were they all living on a different planet or something?

“Kneel.” Luka’s detestable smirk made his features sinister rather than angelic.

The real Lucifer: a fallen angel.

Without letting go of my wrist, Demitri knelt down on one knee and bowed his
head, his free hand flat at the center of his chest. “Your command has been obeyed,” he
said formally.

Luka nodded once.

Demitri stood up and pulled me toward the school without telling me where we
were going. Not having the time to thank Luka for saving me from Calixta, I risked a
glance back. Luka smiled at me. His smile spoke of whispers, secrets, and promises to be
shared on a later date.

My Rating:

My Review:
OMGoodness! I am so glad I found this series! What a great story!

Great Plot, Great Story! The Characters were amazing. Maggie was kind of thrust into a world out of nowhere! It was a lot to take in for her and I like that she accepted it, but not in a way that felt to forced.

Caleb has got to be the sweetest male lead ever! I <3 'd him! I want to smack Kyle quite often! Haha

The Romance and pull between Maggie and Caleb is epic! I adored this story!

This is such a great new twist on SoulMates and the Paranormal! I already bought #2 and plan to read it very soon!
