Is
There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
Life’s difficult times can make us
stronger while allowing us to create the person we WANT to be. If only we allow
ourselves to follow our GodWinks, learn from the challenges of the event, truly
forgive and turn to our higher power when needed anyone can learn.
Is
there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
I have dyslexia and my major challenge is getting
the text from my thought to the computer. Instead of typing I dictate the first
draft of my books to assist me in my writing.
How
many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I have written three books in the
Divorced and Scared NO More series. Book
1 is Emotional Support for the Newly Divorced, Book 2 is Practical Advice for the
Newly Divorced, and Book 3 is Dating after Divorce From Lemons to Zesty Lemon
Sorbet. When people start the series they are afraid, angry and sad. But they
end the series laughing and smiling while totally enjoying the new life they
have built. Therefore, the third book in
the series is my favorite because people have processed from the divorce and
are now ready to enter the fun and interesting world of dating.
If You
had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today,
who would you pick and why?
Nicole Kidman because she is a strong
woman and her personal life events would give her insight that only people that
have gone through a divorce and healing an understand.
When
did you begin writing?
After my divorced in 2010 and with the
encouragement of friends, family and my divorce attorney, I decided it was time
to give writing a try. Then the development
of the website divorcedandscarednomore.com began.
How long
did it take to complete your first book?
I began writing what was going to be
just one book in 2013. After I had
finished my book the publisher recommended it be turned into three books. Their suggestion was to have the series
progress as people progress through their life after a divorce. The dating information was only one chapter
in the original manuscript, but the publisher was correct in the fact that
people need more detailed information regarding dating.
Did you
have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
Tony Haynes did the poetry in my books and on the
website. Ever since we met he has been a
wonderful friend that constantly encourages me to reach my highest
potential.
What is
your favorite part of the writing process?
Finishing it and knowing that I have accomplished
something some people told me I could never do. That’s one of my “wanna bet”
moments. But mainly when I have finished
the book I now I have created something that will truly help others.
Describe
your latest book in 4 words.
Insightful, soothing, humorous and
perspicacious.
Can you
share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your
writing?
My family of origin has a very interesting family
tree. I have been interviewing my relatives
to collect more details about our history.
