A broken daughter’s search for the truth unwinds a spiraling journey of panic, lust, and murder in this manipulative thriller from debut author T. A. Massa.
Melanie Stewart has just been left ten million dollars by a man she never knew. Should she accept the money? What if it means her mother, Marilyn, who died when she was only three years old, was murdered by the man who left it to her?
Melanie is trapped with crippling anxiety after the loss of her mother at a young age and the fatal stabbing of her fiancé on the night of their engagement.
When she discovers she has been written into the will of Roger Andrews, a name linked to the mysterious death of her mother, Melanie must trudge down a path of buried memories, reliving painful heartache, all while attempting to restart her life and trust a new admirer, Jake Andrews, Roger’s grandson.
Told from the alternating perspectives of Melanie’s investigation and Marilyn’s last weeks leading up to her death, the clues unravel one by one, leaving you guessing until the final climax. Who should Melanie trust? What happened to Marilyn all those years ago?

Interview
Is
There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
My
novel has many messages, but one of them that I think is overlooked in our
society is anxiety. The main character suffers from an anxiety disorder and she
feels like she is suffering alone. She has panic attacks that are unbearable
and she doesn’t have any resources for help. I myself know how painful anxiety
is, and I wrote this in my character to give readers suffering a feeling that
they are not alone, and hopefully they can speak up and get the help they need.
Is
there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
The
most challenging thing I find is having the time to write. My life is busy, as
I know everyone’s is, and squeezing time for myself to write is hard. There is
always something else I should be doing. In a perfect world I would write all
day, every day, and publish book after book, but that is never going to be
realistic. I’ve learned that sometimes I have to let my writing go, sometimes
for months, and come back to when I have more time. I have to be patient
otherwise I get really frustrated.
How
many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I’ve
only written one book. It was my first attempt at writing and is by far my
favorite. I surprised myself with my novel. Not only with the finished product,
but also that I loved the process so much. I can’t wait to get to the second
one.
If
You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today,
who would you pick and why?
Ohhh, maybe Jennifer Lawrence? Or Blake Lively?
When
did you begin writing?
About
four years ago with my book blog, www.pagesandlace.com, which I still manage, but have turned it into more of a
Lifestyle Blog for readers.
How
long did it take to complete your first book?
Two
years
Did
you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
I
really enjoy Mary Kubica’s writing style, and Colleen Hoover’s story inspired
me to start writing for myself.
What
is your favorite part of the writing process?
My
writing process is very messy and I like that part of it the most. I am type A
with everything else in my life. I plan, I have schedules and lists. But with
my writing, it is a mess and I love the process of putting it all together to
get to the finished product.
Describe
your latest book in 4 words.
Panic
Grief Love Surrender
Can
you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for
your writing?
My second novel is also going to be a mystery, suspense,
thriller. It takes place on the Guadalupe river where there have been reports
of a haunting. A housewife, who is lonely and a functioning alcoholic, meets a
new friend, and the two of them take you on a journey that isn’t what you
think.
