The mystery that unfolds on a dark, eerie back road in upstate New York sends Nick Dowling on a frantic quest to understand his past. What he discovers about himself slowly drives him toward madness. Where does the truth unfold, in mystery or in the dream? Is truth the illusion he can't embrace? Just who is Nick Dowling?

Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp? Perhaps to question the Universe and also to never accept people at face value. Truth sometimes lies deep.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? I write in different genres and sometimes it’s challenging to keep the fantasy out of my women’s fiction and the realism out of my fantasy.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite? I have written 14 books, not all are published but should be out in the following months. I am currently writing two books. I don’t really have a favorite.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why? I think Matt Damon would make a wonderful Nick Dowling. He has a certain innocence about him but he can be very suspicious looking.

When did you begin writing? I have always written, first I wrote poetry then tried writing plays and from there I jumped in to fiction. I have written non fiction magazine articles and children’s curriculum as well.

How long did it take to complete your first book? About a year.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer? There are many of them. I loved reading the Bronte’s, Oscar Wilde and Russian writers. I loved all those wonderful big, lush novels like Portrait of a Lady, The Red and the Black, Anna Karenina, etc.

What is your favorite part of the writing process? When I successfully write ‘The End’

Describe your latest book in 4 words. Humorous, Haughty, Philosophical, Adventurous.

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing? Yes, I am just about to publish the sequel to Annabel Horton, Lost Witch of Salem. I will also be publishing Kismet under Vera Jane Cook. My older titles will be published most likely in 2020. I am writing Pharaoh’s Star sequel and a new book titled The Darlings, a suspense mystery.
