Agnew, a small farming community in south-central Texas, has just been obliterated in the nation’s worst rail accident in history. The President of the United States enlists cybersecurity expert, Mike Paxton, to lead the investigation and determine who is to blame.

As Mike seeks to uncover the truth behind the attack, more weapons of mass destruction are unleashed across the country in what appears to be an attempt to eradicate western society. Those who survive are forced into a near-apocalyptic existence: transportation, manufacturing, agricultural, and oil industries crumble, and economic collapse devastates America.

With time and resources running out, Mike must discover the cruel forces at play. Are these violent attacks merely a ploy to preoccupy the American government so a larger, global plan can be carried out without the threat of intervention by America’s powerful military defense? Will Mike and his team be able to stop them before it’s too late? Or will the United States lose all hope of maintaining its status as the most powerful country in the world?

MY READING ADDICTION INTERVIEW

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is real and could lead to greater conflict. The coming together of the Sunnis and Shiites is highly unlikely, but the amount of money available through the illicit global drug trade, and terrorists interested in furthering their own self-serving agenda is not. We need to be ever mindful of potential terrorism capable of impacting our world in meaningful ways.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I tried to write a feasible story where every sentence, every paragraph moved the story forward. The challenge compounded because there are two stories and moving one forward often set back the other one.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

This is my first work of fiction. I have an extensive medical and healthcare delivery systems bibliography.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

That would require determining who the main character is, Mike Paxton, the American cybersecurity expert who leads the successful search for those responsible for the attack on America, or, Jamal Shehadi, and Omar and Ana Saleh, those responsible for the attack’s design and the money required to complete it. I am not good at knowing current actors but who ever played these parts would need to look very ordinary.

When did you begin writing?

I began scientific and medical writing forty plus years ago. The story that became my first fiction book began thirteen years ago.

How long did it take to complete your first book?

Thirteen years.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

Dee Pipes, a long-time friend who writes with a co-author under the pen name Dee Wilber.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

Doing the research and developing the story, wondering what if, and could that happen.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Thought-provoking, sobering, feasible, explosive

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

Domestic Violence, a thriller, is born out of the forces that led to 9/11. That attack represents guerilla warfare taken to the extreme. Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda demonstrated how a minor assailant could engage and sustain a world power in long-term conflict on their terms

After a series of attacks that annihilated a quarter of a million people and endeavored to destroy the transportation, petrochemical, and oil and gas infrastructures of the entire nation, Mike Paxton, a cybersecurity expert is asked by the President to spearhead our country’s efforts to identify and bring to justice those responsible. His rhetorical response: How does one find a common thread when searching for the electronic footprints of people you do not know, in places you have never been, and left behind by smart men and women who took great pains to conceal them? He promises dogged persistence in the collection of the bits of data that will come from literally tons of physical evidence left in the wake of these hideous crimes. He also vows to employ every possible resource at his disposal, from the support of an international group of world class hackers whose trust he has already earned, to the off-beat use of honeybees to help sniff out storage lockers which may have been used as explosive depots for the nationwide chain of destruction.
