Sent to live with her strict, aloof, and uncaring uncle after her parents are killed in a car accident, twelve-year-old orphan Alyssa McCarthy longs for the life she used to have—one filled with fun and love. Then one stormy night, a message appears in the raindrops on the window that will change everything.

"Your life will never be the same again, as magic will interfere."

Before long, Alyssa is kidnapped by Master Beau, a banished sorcerer with a mysterious connection to her who can only regain his power by weakening hers. Suddenly hurled into a world of wizardry filled with fantastical beasts and marvelous technology beyond her wildest imagination, Alyssa must defeat Master Beau if she ever wants to get home again. But Master Beau will stop at nothing, including using Alyssa’s friends, to ensure he is triumphant.

INTERVIEW

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

When times are rough, don’t stop believing in yourself, whether you are living with an abusive person or having to fight danger.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

In the beginning, it’s getting my plot ideas. I also get writer’s block and can be slow with my progress.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

There are currently 3 books in my series. My favorite is the third one.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

I don’t know. But I am super-protective and controlling of my ideas. So, I would be extremely picky on whom to cast.

When did you begin writing?

When I was only 6. I stopped at age 10, and then returned to it when I was almost 16.

How long did it take to complete your first book?

The original edition was published in 2013. It took almost 2 years to write. Then I updated it in 2018 and republished it as a new edition and title.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

No. But I do get a lot of my ideas from J.K. Rowling. People have constantly compared my books to “Harry Potter.”

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

Worldbuilding and writing heartwarming moments between different characters.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Currently in the works.

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

The 4th installment, as of now, is about chaos and my main character possibly going insane against her will.
