What was your main drive to write this book?
After many years in the corporate world, kicking
marketing-ass and fighting the good fight, I, like many people during COVID-19
lockdowns, took some time to re-evaluate and I realized that, whilst I was
making good money and doing well at my job, I had lost my passion for corporate
marketing. Increasing revenue and driving more sales for distant shareholders
was no longer enough.
I wanted to make a difference in the world and, given the
number of women starting their own businesses or turning their side hustles
into full-time gigs, I focused my skills and knowledge on helping women like me,
like my friends, like my clients, build the businesses of their dreams by
implementing marketing plans and strategies that work.
This book is a compilation of the framework and templates
I use with my clients to supercharge their marketing. When they follow the
processes outlined in the book, they’ll build the launchpad that will give them
everything they need to successfully market their business for years to come.
What do you hope readers will learn by reading
this book?
The book is designed to show women how to market their
products and services to their ideal clients, to get the right results using
the right strategies and the right messaging. Their way.
This book is not a shortcut to getting rich quickly. It’s
not a bunch of hacks and tips for Facebook and Google ads. Let’s face it, that
type of advice would be outdated before the book was even published!
The advice and strategies in this book will set women up
for marketing success for years to come. It will show them how to build a solid
platform for their business even beyond marketing.
Did you do much research when planning this
book?
I have decades of experience marketing businesses of all
shapes and sizes, and with a life-long passion for learning, I’ve been
researching the information in this book throughout my entire career.
In terms of the processes in the book, I worked with my
clients using them, and finessed them, over the course of a couple of years.
This process helped me iron out any issues and overcome any assumptions that
needed to be fleshed out more.
Did you have any main people who helped you in
the process of this book or influenced you to write it?
In the end, it was my clients and other women like them
that inspired me to write the book. It’s quite different from the one I
initially envisaged (that’ll be the next book!) and it evolved into something
that is designed help professional women like my clients, like me, like my
friends, escape the golden handcuffs of a great job and achieve the flexibility
and empowerment they sometimes can’t achieve in a corporate gig.
During the writing of the book, I had the help and support
of my fabulous book coach, Athena Daniels, who kept me on track, kept me accountable
and kept my spirits up as needed. She’s brilliant and I highly recommend a book
coach for someone like me who can get swept away into the minutiae and lose
momentum sometimes.
How long did this book take you to write from
initial thought to hitting publish?
All up it was about 12 months from the first time I sat
down to right, until I had the paperback in my hand.
Do you have plans to write more about this
topic or new topics?
Yes, the next book, Marketing Liftoff, will be
finished (fingers crossed!) by the end of 2023. I’ll also be doing more
blogging and articles on the topic on an on-going basis.
