Contemporary Romance (BDSM, kink)
Date Published: 06-21-2023
Heather’s soul soars when she’s hang-gliding, skydiving, kayaking, or piloting a helicopter during search and rescue missions. She’s taken the term adrenaline junkie to a whole new level. However, she’s never enjoyed sex and never had an orgasm.
Instead of giving up on her, Kyle, a long-time friend who convinces her to be more, brings an experienced Dom in to help. Marcus explains she only enjoys extreme sports, so she needs to try extreme sex since the normal kind hasn’t worked. Marcus is all Dom, and helps Kyle bring Heather alive sexually.
Just when Heather thinks she has everything figured out, she learns the details of how it worked when the two men shared a girlfriend for years while they were in college.
Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
I read to be entertained, and I write what I would like to read. Reading
is my form of escapism, and I hope I’m creating little vacation escapes for my
readers.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
It’s apparently practically impossible for me to write vanilla sex. I’ve
managed it a few times — my Halloween series is completely vanilla. I have a
few books with light kink, but mostly, I seem to jump into the deep end of the
kink pool.
How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I currently have seventy-one published books, and another dozen-ish that
are partially written. My favorite series is my Only Human series, which
is the series that ties all my other books together. If you don’t like urban
fantasy, it isn’t necessary for you to read it in order to enjoy the romances in
my other series, but you’ll see Kirsten show up in lots of other books, and the
Only Human series tells her story. Also, book seven ends with an HEA, so
there are romantic elements. And, since this is me writing, it has lots of
kinky sex, too.
When did you begin writing?
Sometime around 2005, I was frustrated with the BDSM romance available. Some
writers were awesome, but others had clearly never felt the kiss of a whip, or
negotiated limits, or had any experience at all in the lifestyle. I thought I
could do better, and I joined NANOWRIMO and actually managed to finish a book.
It was awful, but a half-dozen attempts later, I had something I thought publishable.
I sent it to a few publishers, and the one I most liked offered me a contract.
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Starting the book. New beginnings. New possibilities. Also,
release day, when I get to share my story with the world. I love reading
through the comments on the spoiler discussion post in my reader group.
Describe your latest book in 4 words.
Four people coming together. (And yes, the double entendre works as well,
when the submissives are allowed an orgasm.)
Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the
future for your writing?
Next up to release is Khan’s story, followed by Wrench’s story, both
part of the Birmingham Rolling Thunder MC. KHAN is dark and twisted, and
readers should pay attention to the warnings. WRENCH is also pretty
kinky, but a lot more lighthearted and fun with the sexy times. The two books
are closely intertwined, since Wrench’s sister is the female main character in
Khan’s story. Her backstory gets resolved in Wrench’s book, so if you read
Khan, you’ll want to read Wrench. However, if you think Khan’s story might be
too much for you, it’s safe to only read Wrench’s story. A few beta readers
opted to skip Khan’s story, and they were a huge help, so I can be sure no one
is lost if they only read Wrench.
Thanks so much for having me on the blog today!
