Through INSIGHTS, Chris LoPresti has gathered 101 world-class mentors to share their invaluable experiences for the benefit of every entrepreneur.

INSIGHTS grants you access to some of Yale’s leading entrepreneurs and the key learnings they’ve collected on their own entrepreneurial journeys. From founders of Fortune 500 companies such as FedEx, to the next generation of entrepreneurs like Thiel Fellows, to early investors in Apple, Cisco, Facebook, and other billion dollar startups, INSIGHTS is a collection of the best advice offered by a diverse group of leaders and innovators.

The 101 featured contributors reveal lessons learned the hard way to help you avoid common pitfalls and allow you to lead your company toward more streamlined success. This unique library of knowledge is available to reference as often as you need.

Thinking about starting your own company? Trying to improve your organization? INSIGHTS provides a wealth of information to guide you along your entrepreneurial journey.

From the author: This book was created to bring together a community of people to share their knowledge and pay forward the help they've received throughout their individual careers. All 101 entrepreneurs volunteered their advice and experiences in this book, and at many other times in their lives, they have offered their insights for free. They all share a common desire to support entrepreneurs of every type.

The proceeds from INSIGHTS will go to ELIS Inc., a registered 501c3 organization created by some of the entrepreneurs in this book. The purpose of the nonprofit is to help future entrepreneurs, leaders, and innovators gain access to resources--both mentors and money.

Your contribution, by either making a direct donation or by buying this book, will help foster the next great organizations and businesses.

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
  • My goal for this book, and the desire of each of the participants, is that their experiences (successes and mistakes), will help you avoid pitfalls, make better choices, and use the time you save to make your company or organization even better. As one of the contributors writes, you should be shameless about borrowing. This library of advice has been assembled and classified for you to borrow as often as you need.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
  • As a first time author, I didn’t find the writing or publishing process all that difficult because of the amazing wealth of resources available from people who have been through the process before. I treated Guy Kawasaki’s book, APE, like a bible. If you could see my copy of APE, you’d think there were more post-it notes than pages. Kawasaki really does a fantastic job of covering all aspects of the publishing process from writing to cover design to marketing.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
  • This is my first book, and my current favorite.

If you had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
  • Well since INSIGHTS has over 100 characters, I think the only personal versatile enough would be Jimmy Fallon.

How long did it take to complete your first book?
  • I took exactly three years from concept to the day I had the hardcover copy in my hand. Writing took two years, production took six months, and marketing prep took about six months.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
  • Absolutely, and that person is Tim Ferriss. Ferriss is all about sharing knowledge and hacking every aspect of your life. I’m obsessed with efficiency, and I caught that bug from Ferriss’ first book The 4 Hour Workweek.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?
  • The best part is the day you see the final product all come together. We did a lot of interesting things around font choice, illustrations, and formatting – so to see it all together after three years of work was special.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.
  • Entrepreneurship advice from tycoons.

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?
  • INSIGHTS was just released as a hardcover and eBook with an audiobook to follow in a week, so my focus is on spreading the word. It’s really important to me for all my readers to know that 100% of profits are going to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and entrepreneur causes, so please buy and buy often. It makes an excellent gift.
  • The common theme in my two most recent entrepreneurial endeavors is community. I knew that one of those communities included people who could help support what I was passionate about, so I reached out to them — and that’s how this book came to be. My current entrepreneurial venture is called TouchPoints. Our tagline is “Reconnect with Everyone” — because we help brands reconnect with former customers, and increase engagement with current customers through better data management. At TouchPoints we are on a mission to empower communities through stronger engagement. I think all of my future ventures will revolve around this theme.
