REVIEW: Ripple by Mandy Hubbard

Publisher: Razorbill/Penguin
Published Date: July 21,2011
Publisher Synopsis:
Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. The water calls to her, draws her in, forces her to sing her deadly song to unsuspecting victims. If she succumbs, she kills. If she doesn't, the pain is unbearable. To keep herself and those she cares about safe, she shuts herself off, refusing to make friends or fall in love-again. Because the last time she fell in love with a boy, he ended up dead.
Then Lexi finds herself torn. Against her better judgement, she's opening up agian, falling in love with someone new when she knows she shouldn't. But when she's offered the chance to finally live a normal life, she learns that the price she must pay to be free or her curse is giving him up

My Rating:

My Review:
Mandy Hubbard tackles a subject that isn't as popular as Vampires and Shapeshifters. You want to think Mermaid, but actually she is a Siren.

The most heartbreaking part about this book is the fact that Lexi has killed before, by accident, but she soon finds out if only she would have known what she was, she never would have had to kill. She suffers so much guilt over what happened the night of her sixteenth birthday.

With great themes of guilt, self acceptance, and the power of love, Mandy Hubbard's Ripple is a great adventure with twists that will keep you on your toes until the very last page.

I've never read a book about a siren before. I've seen this one around but I haven't picked it up yet. Your review makes it sound a lot deeper than I thought it would be, it's on my pile now. :)

Jussy and Allie, ya I had never read one about a siren either, but I have seen 2 since I read this that are coming out in the next several months about Sirens.

It wasn't AMAZING, but it was definitely worth my time. ; )
