They weren’t supposed to have feelings.

Metal will Clash
In a not-too-distance future, robots composed of metal for bones, electric cords for veins, and synthetics for skin are now available. For purchase. Eighteen-year-old Vienna Avery’s home is going to change forever, now that her mom purchased an Italian Chef Robot to cook and reside in their house.
Secrets will Unfold
The government claimed robots were indifferent, unthinking pieces of metal and elastic—assistance for the help of humans. Vienna never believed much of what the government said. The pieces didn’t always fit. And now Vienna knows why, because she’s uncovered the government’s secret: that robots have emotions, sucking Vienna into the underground world of feeling, thinking, and sovereign robots.
Sparks will Fly
Alec Cypher is everything a robot is not supposed to be: deep, dark, and dangerously human. And for some reason, he wants to save Vienna from the government’s prying, vindictive eyes. Going forward, Vienna will have to learn to trust robots and battle the growing feelings she never thought possible . . . feelings for the green-eyed, soul-searching robot named Alec.

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

Yes. I want readers to grasp that you are not who you are based on your life experiences. You are who you choose to be and your life experiences are lessons enhance you. You control who you want to be. You get to choose who you want to be no matter what has happened in your past. We are not victims of our past experiences but are fully in control of who we have always wanted to be. Deep again. Right? I know. Sometimes I go really deep and internal but hey, that makes the best writing. Right? When you open up pieces of yourself through your work.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

The actual writing part, sitting down making a writing schedule and sticking to it when there are so many other things going on at the same time.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

I would love for Jennifer Lawernce to play Vienna. That would be like an amazing life dream lol

When did you begin writing?

I wasn’t one of those prodigy child-type of things. I could barely read in third grade. My mom had to buy me hooked on phonics and I did it until about fifth grade. I hated reading. I hated that I pronounced everything too slow and could never guess what the word was I was supposed to be saying. I hated sounding things out that sometimes were pronounced one way and sometimes another. It didn’t make any sense. And I was frustrated that I couldn’t get it. And I hated reading all the books we were forced to in school. They were horrible. I would litterly flip through the pages for thirty minutes pretending to read. On top of all that, none of books I was reading seemed to connect with me or mean anything. I didn’t officially start reading until high school. Until I found an author my mom had been reading and told me to give it a try. The authors’ name was Francine Rivers. And she was the start that changed my life.
After I read through all of Francine Rivers’ books I started searching for more books that were similar to hers and slowly I started to find them. I stumbled upon a Julie Garwood book for sale at the library for $1.00. And when I finished the book, I was shocked. It was AMAZING! I could bow down to Julie Garwood. I was like where have these books been all my life!!! Whoa! Books can be about romance! I need to find more. Must find more. Now. So good! I started actively going to book stores, going into the romance sections and buying tons of books to read. Instead of going out and partying at night, I was in my room reading a book–devouring each word, the characters and the romantic tension between them.
I had just decided I wanted to change my major from Finance to Math and since I was in my last year, my school gave me the gut-wrenching no. It was a horrible feeling, to finally feel like you knew what you wanted and what you wanted to be in life and have them say no. I was so bummed I just sat in my room, staring at the walls, thinking what am I going to do now. And I said. Write a book. Get lost in your book. I opened my laptop, sat down at my desk and wrote the first ten pages of Sparked (what was then called Saving Vienna).

How long did it take to complete your first book?

7 yrs. However most of the time was spent on learning how to write (creating tension, realistic dialogue, plotting, showing in your writing vs. telling)

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

Letting my imagination go completely free with no bounds or limits or people telling you what you are supposed to do or be.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Crazy. Mind altering. Determined.

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

My next release will be Book Two of the Metal Bones Series, Enflamed. And I am sooooooo excited for it. It’s going to take the series even deeper into the world!!
