Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Is there a message in your novel you want readers to grasp?
I would like readers
to note that teens can be given a complicated issue, such as the quest that
Cedric and Pete went on, and still solve
it.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your
writing?
Writing for the characters’ ages. I didn’t want a reader to
think my main characters were adults. Therefore, you must be careful with what
they say, do, and react.
How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I have written four. Three are the Hassle High
series, Murder at Hassle High, Summertime Murder at Hassle
High and French Cruises Can Kill You, a group of cozy mysteries, and
the fourth is ARMERA. ARMERA is a sci fi , fantasy ,cozy mystery.
I seem to always love the last one I write the best, I don’t know why, but it
is true!
If you had a chance to cast your main character from
Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
Max Charles would be
great for Cedric. He is the right age and did an excellent job in his role of
Zach Goodweather in The Strain.
When did you begin writing?
My first short story
was a sci fi mystery strange enough, and
I wrote it at age seven.
When did you complete your first book?
I completed the first
of the Hassle High series at sixty. I taught high school and college before
that and was quite busy. Writing a complete book had to wait for retirement.
Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
I always loved reading JRR Tolkien. He inspired me .
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Creating dialogue. I love making characters talk.
Describe your latest book in four words.
Lighthearted, quest, strange creatures.
Can you share a little about your current work or what is in
the future for your writing?
Sure, I outlined Armera
Two which will have the same
characters and a wizard sent on a secret mission to buy flying carpets. And I
am working currently on Hassle High Book 4 , a cozy mystery with all my
characters set in a college in Florida.
