REVIEW: Smokeless Fire by Samantha Young

Title: Smokeless Fire
Author: Samantha Young
Date Published:10/21/11

Synopsis:
For the last two years Ari’s life has been anything but normal and on her 18th birthday, when her friends surprise her with a gimmick genie claiming to grant wishes, Ari discovers the truth. The tragic and strange occurrences surrounding her 16th birthday were not coincidental and her life is never going to be the same again.

Ari’s real parents are not normal. They are not loving. They are not human.

They are myth.

They are Smokeless Fire.

My Rating:

My Review:

Samantha Young made a fan of me with her Tale of Lunarmorte series.

As a teenage girl who has practically been raising herself due to her father's noticeable absence from her life, Ari is independent and strong enough to stand on her own. She has known Charlie her entire life and after the death of his brother, he is seriously different. In a deep depression and acting out in every way possible, Ari simply wants to fix him. Unfortunately, life has other plans for her.

Add on top of that a revelation that her father is not her actual father, and her real father wants to use her for his own sinister plans. Ari's world is turned upside down. There are new people claiming to want to protect her from her father's evil, but can she trust her so-called uncle and Jai, who has claimed the role of her protector.

Ari is so stuck in the past and what Charlie was, that she does not give anyone else the time of day. I just hate watching him be treated the way she is. It's heartbreaking, especially knowing what they could be. Then there is Jai, who would honestly be perfect for her if it weren't for her hearts addiction to Charlie.

This is a promising start to a new series, I will definitely be reading the rest!
