Date Published: May 11, 2022
Publisher: Jan-Carol Publishing, Inc.
Fighting to save a primitive planet targeted by the Alliance's enemies, Kairn never expected to find the female who haunted his dreams made flesh and blood.
Daria's life revolved around her work. She had given up on finding romance...let alone love. Earth was now under attack by an evil alien empire—under siege. Daria is trying to do her job as best she can in an upside-down world. Then the cavalry arrives...in the form of giant, gorgeous alien warriors.
These aliens are working toward restoring Earth to the pristine beauty she used to be. In their charismatic leader, Daria finds the most amazing partner. Laughter and love with her devoted alien, what's an Earth girl going to do but grab on with both hands and hold on tight to enjoy the ride? After all...what could possibly go wrong?
- There are
many underlying themes that I wanted people to see :
- Mainly that love
is blind and accepts you as you are.
- Family is not
determined by blood alone. Some of the best Families are formed by choice
- Humans are not the
only sentient beings on Earth — let alone the Universe
- I have
trouble choosing names. I want the characters’ names to convey a distinct
sense.
- I’m currently
midway through Book 9. I have a hard time choosing a favorite. Usually
whichever book I’m currently on is my favorite. I have a soft spot for
Book 2 which is about Darzik and Emily, Book 3 and 6 which tell the
stories of characters we meet in Book 2. They were never supposed to be
main characters, but they kept stealing scenes and demanding to tell their
stories.
- Kairn: I
like Toby Stephens from Black Sails and Lost In Space. He’s a very
versatile artist and commands the screen. He exudes competence. His roles
are always memorable. Daria: Gal Galdot. Her Diana is quiet and
collected, but she can shift to her alter ego and take command when needed.
- I began writing on
3/20. I had a medical scare and was placed on no call responsibilities for
six weeks. Frankly, I began writing because I ran through my TBR list. I
kept writing because I came back to the ICU in the midst of the first wave
of covid. Writing helped me cope with the frustrations and helplessness we
were all feeling at work.
- It took 3.5
months.
- I have many
favorite authors. Under her pen name, Nerina Hilliard ,wrote Harlequin
romances in the 1950's. You could feel the bond and chemistry between her
characters. I also will read anything by Grace Draven. Radiance is one of
my favorite books — a blend of adventure/ fantasy spiced with humor and
romance. I also like Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarian series. I adore how
she lets us catch up with our favorite characters.
- Developing each
pair of main characters special code: Words/ nicknames / phrases that have
special meaning for them.
- Four words that
summarize my latest book: You bring me hope.
- A little
about my current work: The heroine is a secondary character from Book
2. She had been in an emotionally abusive marriage. She is courted by one
of the most ferocious warriors. He melts for her. Their dance as he slowly
thaws and wins her heart makes me smile. I've been living in Kairn
and Daria's world for 2.5 years now. I'd like to give each member of
the main group of characters their own story and HEA, but the Family keeps
growing. They're like rabbits!!
About the Author
Fionne Foxxe Farraday the award-winning author of the 2022 INTERNATIONAL IMPACT BOOK AWARD for "Best Romance" novel. She also is a medical professional working in the area of pulmonary and critical care medicine. After years of working with patients, Farraday faced medical issues in March 2020 that put her on enforced medical leave without call responsibilities. An avid reader, she soon exhausted her list of books and found herself bored with TV, leading her to begin outlining the story that would become KAIRN: Mates of the Alliance. Returning to ICU work during the dark days of the first Covid-19 wave, Fionne continued writing as a way to cope with the intense demands and the losses of countless patients. The writing took on a life of its own as Farraday fashioned the fictional happy endings which were in short supply in the ICU full of Covid-19 patients.
With her own background in medicine and family members who served in WWII and Vietnam, Farraday’s books are a salute to all of the medical and military personnel whose sacrifices allow us to do what we do. A mother, grandmother, and animal lover, Fionne Foxxe Farraday lives in Cookeville, TN.
