Haunted by insurmountable grief, the nearly indestructible Susie Drake temporarily sacrifices all memories of her human friends. Unbeknownst to her, Ren Pith, a semi-immortal plagued by seizures and OCD, snatches her remembrances in pursuit of a time traveler, with the hope of rewriting the past.

Meanwhile, recruited by the grandchildren of her forgotten friends, Susie confronts a murder investigation intertwined with her purloined past and teams up with a private eye to unravel a perplexing link between her stolen recollections and a man who taunted her nearly a century prior. Racing against the possibility of total memory loss, Susie and the detective navigate time and space to follow a lead and venture into the future of an alternate Earth.

Susie’s quest intertwines self-discovery, justice, and a high-stakes race into a tangled web bridging past, present, and parallel worlds.

INTERVIEW

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

-You can’t judge a character by their first chapter.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

-Descriptions. Writing dialogue comes much easier. I prefer to let the reader add much of the descriptive parts, although I realize a good part of it rests on my shoulders. In that case, I go with less is more.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

-The Susie Drake novel is the first completed book. I have eleven others in various stages of drafts. The fifth one, which is currently titled, The 44th Morning: Gathering of the Tribes is my favorite. As the title suggests, the storyline brings together many of the characters.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

-Susie Drake… Margot Robbie, Samara Weaving or Lucy Fry. I can picture all of them exuding Susie’s attitude.

When did you begin writing?

-When I was eight, I wrote the neighborhood newsletter. For the novels you mean? I had begun the storyline in my head when I was ten. I finally began putting it down on a Word document in 2018, many years later.

How long did it take to complete your first book?

-The first draft took a little over two months. I edit multiple drafts at the same time, so it’s hard to say how long it actually took.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

-Becoming a writer was always what I wanted. What inspired my stories were TV shows, movies, and Marvel comics. That said, credit for pursuing my writing ambition can go to Richard Brautigan, Clifford Simak, Stephen King, Charles de Lint, Nicholas Christopher, and Tom Robbins

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

-Fleshing out a character. They’re my family. Each one has their own voice, personality, motivations, and all are subject to change, for better or worse.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

-Emotional, adventurous, sexy, funny

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

-In the Susie Drake novel, I hint at her back story. She is one of several key characters in a series I’m developing called The 44th Morning. Whereas the current book takes place in the mid-21st century, the prequels focus on the turbulent 1960s and 1970s.
