INTERVIEW

What was your main drive to write this book?

For years now, I think most people have been feeling that the world is spiraling increasingly out of control. As a pastor in a local church, I’ve had countless conversations with people who have felt this way. The good news is that the Bible is not silent about these things! The bad news is that the book of the Bible that most deals with end times events - Revelation – is perhaps the most misunderstood book in the entire Bible. People find it intimidating and hard to understand. So, I taught our church through the book verse by verse twice over the past 10 years. Tens of thousands of people also listened to the messages online and shared how blessed they were to finally be able to understand Revelation. They were encouraged, filled with hope, and loved Jesus more. I received quite a few requests to put the information into a book, and that began the slow process of turning my sermons into what would become “Hail the King.”

My hope was to write a detailed, verse by verse explanation of Revelation that anyone could read, understand, and be encouraged by.

What do you hope readers will learn by reading this book?

I believe God has lovingly shared His plans for the end times with His people so that we can know what’s coming, not be shaken by it, and have confidence in His good plans – even when the world around us seems to be falling apart.

I hope readers will be comforted by the truth that God is truly in control and will be filled with joyful anticipation as we see God’s plans coming to pass before our very eyes.

Did you do much research when planning this book?

Yes! I taught through the Book of Revelation twice at our church, doing different rounds of research both times. I then compiled all that research with even more research while working on the manuscript. I’ve read more books and listened to more podcasts and sermons on the subject than I can count.

Did you have any main people who helped you in the process of this book or influenced you to write it?

I was heavily influenced by the pastor of a church I worked at in my twenties. He was the first person I’d ever heard teach through Revelation verse by verse. Hearing those messages ignited my passion for Bible prophecy because they showed me that it was possible to understand the parts of Scripture that seemed impossible to understand.

How long did this book take you to write from initial thought to hitting publish?

The writing, editing, and publishing process took around five years.

Do you have plans to write more about this topic or new topics?

Absolutely! I’d like to write similar books about the other major end times prophetic texts in the Bible – the Book of Daniel, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, and Jesus’ Olivet Discourse in the Gospels. Anyone who studies these books will have a thorough understanding of end times Bible prophecy, and I’d love to guide people along that path.
