What do a comatose old woman, a dying gang member, and a brutal assault on a teenage boy have in common? Derek Hollinger isn’t sure, but he knows they’re all connected to the mysterious tattoos that suddenly appeared across his body.

Determined to untangle the web spun by the vicious thug known as “Spider,” Derek embarks on a journey of redemption that leads from his lavish L.A. penthouse to the seedy world of underground fighting and human trafficking. But as he ventures deeper down the rabbit hole, the self-exiled plastic surgeon realizes that the answer lies within his heart and mind … and soul.

Faith is the key to reclaiming his life, but choosing God may be difficult for Derek, who has spent his entire career valuing material success over spiritual growth.

In this thrilling sequel to 21 Tattoos, Derek must face the hard truth about where his tattoos came from and an even harder truth about what it will take to be free of them once and for all.

INTERVIEW

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp? The main takeaway for my readers is that when your life falls apart, there is always a way to rebuild it. It may not be the same as before, but it can even be better with careful planning and effort. You are the only one who knows what your future should look like. This gives you the power to start from scratch or reconstruct what you had before.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? As I work on refining my writing style, I remember the importance of conveying my intended message through the thoughts and actions of my characters. It's easy to forget that the reader may or may not have prior knowledge of the story, so it's crucial to make sure my words are clear and my meaning is not lost in translation throughout The Tattoo Series.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite? I have completed three books in The Tattoo Series and am working on my fourth. The third book is my personal favorite. As the series progresses, we explore more profound levels of the characters' psyche- like peeling away layers of an onion.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why? Since the start, I had Ryan Gosling in mind for the role of Dr. Derek Hollinger. After watching the recent Fall Guy movie, my belief has only been solidified. He is the perfect fit for the character.

When did you begin writing? Since childhood, I have been an avid reader with a vivid imagination. It wasn't until college that I began writing down my stories and even then it was sporadic due to the demands of life. But during a difficult time when I was undergoing intense chemotherapy and radiation treatments for Stage 3 Breast Cancer, I found solace in writing a story of self-discovery and rebirth, drawing from my own journey through the traumatic impact of my diagnosis and treatment. As someone who never understood the appeal of tattoos, I used my experiences to create metaphors that explore their significance in my character's quest for understanding and healing after enduring personal turmoil and transformation. In this second installment of the series, I continue to delve into rebuilding a shattered life and fundamentally changing one's identity through spiritual awareness. Through extensive research, I uncover the power of creating your own life story to reconstruct one's life and find true inner peace and growth for my character.

How long did it take to complete your first book? I began writing it in 2008, but it took me a few years to finish. After that, it remained untouched for a while. However, I gave it a revamp and completed it in 2017.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer? As a child, I was greatly influenced by two authors and their books: Hugh Lofting's The Story of Doctor Dolittle (1920) that follows the adventures of the central character, Doctor John Dolittle, and Lyman Frank Baum (1856-1919), best known for his beloved children's book series The Oz Series.

What is your favorite part of the writing process? There is no greater joy than immersing myself in the world I have created and sharing it with others. As I continue on my journey as a writer and connect with readers and fellow fiction enthusiasts, they become part of the experience by interpreting and influencing the motivations and desires of my characters based on their own unique experiences. Through this mutual exchange, my imaginary worlds become even more vivid and meaningful.

Describe your latest book in 4 words. Faith is the Key

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing? The third book of The Tattoo Series delves deeper into the journeys of my characters as they search for answers in life. Through various obstacles and trials, they embark on a journey of self-discovery that tests their physical and emotional limits and challenges their relationships. Building upon the events of the previous two books, this story sheds light on the struggles and personal growth that come with embarking on a physical and spiritual journey to find oneself. This installment sets the stage for further exploration of the remaining 21 Tattoo characters yet to be fully revealed.
