Interview
Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
I love that you ask if there is a message in my novels. I have many messages within the pages of Insatiable Darkness which is part of the Vigilant Series. The complete series includes the character origin stories and their full novel. Insatiable Darkness is an origin story for EmVee Lewis who is a female boxer that is trying to carve out her place as the oldest child and protector for her family. The novellas within this series unfold a mystery that is only revealed when you read the perspective of each sibling hero. The message is that there is “My story, your story and the truth lie in the middle.”
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
My challenge in writing many of my books is keeping a vibrant imagination and creating worlds that have beautifully compelling landscapes for my characters. I travel a lot and have to do deep research on interesting places to keep that creative flow of places compelling yet believable.
How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I have written twenty-six books, and twenty-five are published. I’d have to save the book of my heart that I have written is Purgatory Reign, and my new love is a spin off to the Vigilant Series that comes out in October 2025 named Lost.
If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
I would cast Sophie Wilde as Demi, EmVee’s best friend in the book within the Vigilant Series Caged Fire.
When did you begin writing?
I used to write when I turned twelve as a way to express myself creatively. I was an avid reader and used to create characters in my head that I would act out for fun.
How long did it take to complete your first book?
My first book only took three months to write the first draft and about another year to edit it to the point I felt it was ready to share with beta readers.
Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
I’d have to say, L. A. BANKS was the author of the Vampire Huntress Legend series and the Crimson Moon Novels. I even met her in person and was a total fan girl. She had the most beautiful spirit, but sadly passed away the year after I met her from cancer.
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
I actually love the planning of a novel. I feel like I am planning for a trip to a far off place with my friends. The world building, character shaping is like different persona’s I get to try on.
Describe your latest book in 4 words.
"Thrilling, mysterious, dangerous, suspenseful."
Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?
Lost, Book 1 of the Misfits Series, is a spin off of the Vigilant Series.
About: Penelope Pawn had an addiction. She liked candy, sword-fighting shadows, and boys. Still, something was seriously wrong and she couldn’t put her finger on it. Being homeless wasn’t as bad for her as it was for most. She had a way of collecting kids that turned into family, like brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, every time another kid agreed to come with her to the hiding place she’d created, a rush of power would surge through her like she’d consumed a drug, sealed a deal, or done something wrong. There was one guy, though, who wouldn’t come. When Terek showed up at her doorstep, a place well hidden from most others, and demanded she heed his warning, it was the first time she feared an enemy's strength. Was he a challenge that could become her savior, revealing the truth of her past to her? Could this boy show her how to repair the fiber of the world she’d unknowingly ripped apart, causing a catastrophic end to the home she’d built for herself and the lost ones?
