I’m very grateful to be with
you today. Thank you for helping me share my firefighter books.
Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to
Grasp?
I highly respect our first responders. In the front of each
book is a dedication to all firefighters. My house burned years ago. My family
got out, and I was so relieved that no one was hurt or injured. The house had
to be rebuilt. Neighbors complained that the fire department did a lot of
damage. The only thing I cared about was that they were safe. Any man or woman
who come to the rescue of those in need has my highest regard.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in
your writing?
Plotting is a big challenge. I find as I write, I think of
new subplots, or new ideas or challenges for my characters.
How many books have you written and which is your
favorite?
I’ve published 14 books, including historical and
contemporary. I find as I write each book, the one I’m working on becomes my
favorite. Ha. Still, I have a soft spot for my very first one. ‘The Right One
For Me’. Just because it was my first and took me years to finish.
If You had the chance to cast your main character
from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
The first person to come to mind is Tom Hardy. A book very
close to my heart ‘Through the Eyes of Bea’ is based on a true-life story. I
can see him as one of her brothers. He played a role where three brother ran
moonshine. Tom would be perfect for the part of Bea’s brother.
When did you begin writing?
When I was in elementary school I would make up stories. As
I got older, I wrote a lot of poems. Being self-conscious and afraid of what
others might think, I signed them unknown author. My husband was in the
military and we traveled all over the US and abroad. When we finally settled
down in Virgina, I decided to pick up writing again. It took me years to get
the courage, and the time, to get my first book completed.
How long did it take to complete your first book?
Ha. Ten years, and then a few more of editing.
Did you have an author who inspired you to become a
writer?
I loved reading Catherine Coulter and Jude Deveroux. I wrote
to Catherine Coulter a long time ago, and was shock when she replied. Her
advice was to write every day. Just keep writing.
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
I like sitting at the computer and just typing what comes
into my head. It turns into work when I have to do the plotting, and flushing
out characters.
Describe your latest book in 4 words.
The Firefighters of Station #8. Each book contains a
firefighter and his story.
Book 1 is MIKE - Four
Words, you ask tough questions.
“Passions soar, Love endures.”
Can you share a little bit about your current work or
what is in the future for your writing?
The latest book is the final book in “The
Firefighters of Station #8.”
Book 5 is COOPER – The shocking story of his past comes to
light and the thrilling capture of the man who has been targeting the
firefighters at Station #8. I have so many ideas of new books and I’m kicking
around the idea of writing in first person. So, I’d love readers feedback on
that.
