Ambiguity has been the story of our era since Operation Cast Lead. The author found herself in the middle of ambiguous theme, dialogue, plot, and portrayal while engaging with a love story on General Hospital in 2008/2009. There was the question mark about the female character: Was she going to be humiliated?

Operation Cast Lead ensued as a mechanism to decide the fate and resolution of this question. The author was conflicted as her tendency to humiliate herself in her fantasies interfered with how she interpreted the story and how she responded to it while Operation Cast Lead unfolded, a war that took place between Hamas and IDF at the climax of the story of Sonny and Kate.

What was the truth of this connection? Why has Gaza been held hostage to this story ever since? What’s the way forward for Israelis and Palestinians? What’s the way forward for humanity?

The book argues that Operation Cast Lead was a design, and attempts to place the case within the current framework of international law while acknowledging that there are fundamental flaws in this framework and that there should be transformation at the foundation of international law for humanity to have a breakthrough and realize true freedom.

This book reveals a secret about history. A secret that would explain why the conflict in the Middle East has not met its resolution. As well as the conflict at the core of humanity.

Interview

What was your main drive to write this book?

The book is about an experience I had with a romance story on General Hospital. Since a very young age, I had humiliating fantasies about myself. Imagining myself in situations that undermined my dignity as a human being. The story on General Hospital began in 2007 and, at that time, it was a healthy tale for me. Not only that, it was a source of hope for me in life because of what it offered. It offered the idea of finding love and a chance to redeem what was once forgotten or given up. When the story became depressing early in 2008, I plunged into depression as well.

In late 2008, however, the way I related to the tale became dark and unhealthy. My old tendencies of humiliation and degrading fantasies resurfaced, and I began to channel out those thoughts on the female character. What reinforced this was that there was a context in the story suggesting that the female character could have been humiliated on TV.

A war then ensued, in late 2008. A war codenamed “Operation Cast Lead”. It is my belief that the war and the story were connected and that history has been held hostage to the legacy of Cast Lead.

In 2022-2023, I wrote a memoir confessing to my thoughts, words, and choices during that time period hoping humanity could move forward but this didn’t emerge as war broke out again in October of 2023. Hence, I wrote the second book: Operation Cast Lead – The Case.

The motivation for writing this second book was that of responsibility and of the realization that truth and words alone would not move history forward towards freedom. In that moment, I realized the importance of accountability.

The book recounts the tale and its connection to the war, and it also analyzes the Case within the framework of international law. Realizing that the system is flawed and that the question of Palestine has turned into an “exception”.

The book is a call for accountability. I found myself responsible in this journey because of the effect my involvement had on the unfolding of history.

What do you hope readers will learn by reading this book?

The main responsibility of a human being is to ask questions. The book puts forward a series of questions about the story and its connection to Operation Cast Lead. The book puts forward a critique of the international legal system regarding war crimes and crimes against humanity. What I hope the reader will take away, is the realization that asking these questions matter if we are to realize true freedom. My hope is that humanity will ask these questions. It is our responsibility to ask.

It has been my experience that crisis emerges when the truth is about to be revealed. By asking questions, the path will unfold to uncover the system behind this “phenomenon”.

Did you do much research when planning this book?

Research was undertaken for the legal analysis part of the book. Its main pursuit was to understand who has jurisdiction to hear, investigate, and prosecute the Case. There may be avenues for that to take place, but I discovered, while researching, that there are fundamental flaws in the current international framework for a case like Cast Lead. It is not known if there was a precedent for this in recent history and that’s where the research revealed that the current international legal framework should be revisited.

Did you have any main people who helped you in the process of this book or influenced you to write it?

I always thank the universe for the insights I was trusted with and I feel a sense of responsibility to those insights. This includes everyone I encountered throughout the writing of this book, who contributed to it in any way.

How long did this book take you to write from initial thought to hitting publish?

I think I began writing the book in November of 2024 and the book was published in August of 2025.

Do you have plans to write more about this topic or new topics?

I’m currently writing poetry and I hope to publish a new book later this year.
