Hogan Duran was a good man once. He was a cop, forced to resign in disgrace after he couldn't save his partner from a bullet. Now Hogan lives on the fraying edges of society, serving cruel masters and scavenging trash dumps just to survive.
But after four years of poverty, Hogan finally gets a chance to get back on his feet. He's invited to join the National Security Council, the powerful paramilitary organization responsible for protecting the rich and powerful from the more unsavory elements of society. All he needs to do is pass their deadly entrance exam, and he'll be rewarded with wealth and opportunity beyond his wildest dreams.
But this ex-cop's path to redemption won't be easy. The NSC are hiding something, and as Hogan descends deeper into their world, he starts to uncover the terrible truth about how the powerful in this new world maintain their power...and just how far they will go to protect their secrets.

Kill Code is the first novel in an exciting new dystopian science fiction series from the mind of award-winning author, screenwriter, and director Clive Fleury.
Interview
Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
Kill Code is a dystopian
novel set in a near-future world ruined by a climate catastrophe and ruled by
the wealthy and the corrupt. Despite this pessimistic outlook, I hope readers
will embrace the protagonist, Hogan Duran’s, belief that in a world gone wrong,
one good man can make a difference.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
I don’t believe anyone
reading the novel will find the writing difficult. I believe books, whatever
their message and purpose, should, above all, be easy to read and entertaining.
Hopefully, Kill Code achieves both of these aims.
How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I’ve had
six of my books published so far, including Kill Code. It’s hard to pick a
favorite. Let’s just say the one I like best is always the one I’m working on.
In this case, it’s the sequel to Kill Code, a book called Blood
Code.
If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
There are a
number of contenders: Austin Butler, who transitioned into gritty sci-fi
territory with his performance in Dune: Part Two;
Nicholas
Hoult – a marvelous actor who can blend tough action with comedy; and
Jack O’Connell, known for his intense, raw physicality.
When did you begin writing?
How long did it take to complete your first book?
My first published book,
Scary Lizzy, took me as long as most of my books take to write --- about a year
and a bit.
Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
There was no single author
who inspired me to become a writer. As a kid, I read avidly, everything I could
get my hands on, and as a result decided that maybe I could give it a go.
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Finishing.
Describe your latest book in 4 words.
A bloody
good read.
Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?
I’m
currently writing a sequel to Kill Code, Blood Code. I’m superstitious about
sharing anything about a novel I haven’t completed yet, so all I can really
share is that if you like Kill Code, you’re going to like this latest
tome.
