They thought the biggest problem they faced was each other.

After Bleu, Rana, and their new friends narrowly prevent war between the star beings and humans, they hope the upcoming negotiation will secure the peace. Newly emerged from their subterranean haven, the Northern Haven humans are clearly not suited to Earth’s ice age, and require assistance from the enlightened star beings to survive long term on the Surface. But Commander Savas doesn’t trust the suspiciously kind star beings and their unexplainable abilities. When both sides reluctantly negotiate a joint mission to find the other Havens, Bleu must somehow cooperate with the manipulative commander to keep his friends safe.

As their team confronts unexpected dangers, Bleu and his teammates begin to suspect the star beings don’t know as much about the Surface as they claimed, while Rana is torn between remaining true to her nonviolent ways or becoming more human to survive. When an unnatural predator attacks, even the nearly all-knowing Kalakanya can’t explain it. Now the team must pull together or their new discovery will pull them apart, limb by limb.

Blog Tour: Just Be You by Emma Wood #blogtour #giveaway #selfhelp #journal #nonfiction #rabtbooktours @PPPbyEmmaWood @RABTBookTours

Self-Help / Journal

Date Published: 01-07-2022

366 daily journaling prompts to help you find the courage, confidence and comfort to be exactly who you are.

Interview

What was your main drive to write this book?

Kate, a client of mine, came back into my studio to collect her pictures. I told her how beautiful she was and went into detail about why. She cried. She wanted to believe me, but she didn’t. I went home and thought about her all night…how could I help her beyond that one day in my studio? I invited her to journal with me and she accepted. I asked her a bunch of questions about her confidence, happiness, and life. Six months later, I found her responses tucked inside my journal. I asked her the questions again, having committed to daily journaling. Her answers were different. Her confidence and happiness did a complete 180! That was the motivation I needed to put my book together after a few years of procrastinating.

What do you hope readers will learn by reading this book?

I really hope that the readers of my book will learn to love themselves unconditionally. My vision is that everyone will become aware of who they are and accept that that person is amazing. There’s too much ‘perfection’ noise in the media. It’s time to shout a little louder about how our differences are what make us beautiful. Nothing in this world is perfect…so why do we always strive to be that?!

Did you do much research when planning this book?

Most of my research was my own journaling experience. I was able to figure out what questions were thought-provoking and had the biggest impact on my personal growth, as well as what wasn’t working. I wanted every page to be beneficial to ones’ self-love journey. I host a Facebook group and would often post questions for discussion, which helped a lot, as well as starting a journaling accountability group and getting feedback from them too.

Did you have any main people who helped you in the process of this book or influenced you to write it?

As mentioned above, my client, Kate, was my main motivation to start putting all my notes and thoughts together. Once I had put everything in somewhat of an order, I hired another client of mine, Kat Flannery, who is an author and book writing mentor. She has guided me through every step of the process. I have so much appreciation for her and for other authors, and I could not have done it without her. Kat put me in touch with Nikolette Jones who designed and created my book cover and formatted the inside of my book.

How long did this book take you to write from initial thought to hitting publish?

I was 8 years old (or there abouts) when I first imagined writing a book. For many years after that, I would think about it and move on, not knowing what my book would be about. I didn’t even know if I wanted to write fiction or non-fiction. In 2018, I enrolled on a government funded business building program designed to help new entrepreneurs. Having been in business already for 7 years at that point, I wasn’t eligible. However, they worked with me to figure out how I could become a student of the program and that’s when I finally decided that I needed to write my book. Fast forward a couple of years, and that is when I actually started piecing everything together. From writing notes to publishing…that was about 9 months.

Do you have plans to write more about this topic or new topics?

As daunting (and overwhelming at times) as this was, I loved every minute. It was an adventure and I have learned so much…not just about writing and publishing books, but about self-love, psychology, and journaling. I plan to write another book while I’m still on a high from writing this one, and it will continue with the topic of self-love.

PROMO Blitz: Mother Blues by Owen Thomas #promo #mystery #literaryfiction #fiction #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours @MKWebsiteandSEO

Mystery / Literary Fiction

Date Published:September 30, 2021

Publisher: OTF Literary

What if your childhood harbored a dire warning about your future? What if your life and the lives of dozens of others, including your future child, depended on you deciphering that warning before it is too late?

Mother Blues is about the maternal relationships we never knew existed, the evil we never expect, and the redemption we never think possible. Subversively feminist and environmental, this is a novel about mothers: those we have loved and lost, those we have never known, and those who have always been there for us whether we have realized it or not. And while this is not a novel about blues music, the blues is everywhere in this story, both grounding it in history and pushing it forward in a slow, rhythmic ache.

If there is one maternal presence that binds together the characters of this novel, living and dead, it is the blues itself. Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Mahalia Jackson, and all the timeless mothers to that quintessentially American genre are here, a soulful Greek chorus singing from the shadows, warning and imploring, offering hope, and bearing witness to lives adrift and in danger of capsizing.

PROMO Blitz: This is the Dream by Owen Thomas #promo #shortstories #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours @MKWebsiteandSEO

Short Stories

Date Published: September 30, 2021

Publisher: ‎ OTF Literary

This is the Dream, ten stories less about dreaming than not dreaming. Ten stories about pulling free the gossamer mask of illusion and seeing the face of what has been true – about ourselves, about the people we choose to love, and about our path through the woods – from the very beginning.

JOHN. The bus driver whose lunchtime encounter with Andromeda reunites him with the one person he has spent a lifetime choosing to avoid. (“Everything Stops”).

WYATT. The Appalachian who wakes from a dream that his wife has been abducted by aliens to find that she has gone missing and wishing the explanation could be so benign. (“Little Green Men”).

RUTH. The chocolate-quality inspector whose compartmentalized solitude threatens complete suffocation until a renowned romance novelist reveals the paper-thin wall that separates despair and hope. (“Paper Walls”).

KATHY. The identical twin, so desperate to be original that she sacrifices her authenticity to a stranger on a plane, lying herself a new identity without any thought to the consequences. (“Failure to Thrive – Act One: Flying and Lying”).

KATJA and JUNE. The novelist and the reporter, bound by history, separated by an ocean, and united in a struggle to reconcile their own hearts one letter at a time. (“Failure to Thrive – Act Two: Katja and June”).

K.P. SORENSON. The convention speaker with a renewed hope of becoming a literary demiurge, looking for validation from an audience of would-be fans, but finding instead the very last man she expects and the only woman who can separate fact from fiction. (“Failure to Thrive – Act Three: The Birds”).

DANNY. The laid-off, newly separated factory worker whose life is in such dramatic contrast to that of his next-door neighbor, and George Clooney, that robbing a convenience store seems like his best option. (“Hating George Clooney”).

PETER. The teenager who, forced to spend Christmas in Hawaii with his younger sister, his parents, and the friends of his father not seen since college, discovers that reality is only a state of mind. (“Island Santa”).

ZOE. The Hollywood intern, working on a movie about a superhero with random powers, managing a telephone relationship with an anonymous criminal, and excavating the secret structure of creation. (“Random Man”).

CALI. The high school loner whose dreams of a dead classmate lead her to the razor’s edge between living and not living. (“This is the Dream”).
