The feud between fairies and wizards is an ancient threat in the magical world. Yet peace is possible. The child of a fairy and a wizard could reunite the factions of The Annunaki and end the unrest.

Niall Warde had been a carefree soul trapped in the rigid, ordered life of a wizard apprentice when he discovered the girl of his dreams was a fairy. He would never know if their forbidden love could survive because she disappeared without a trace. Unable to find her, Niall blamed his father for Amelie’s disappearance and left home without looking back.

Amelie Ricard knew she had to protect the baby she and Niall created. The fairies don't want peace and her mother, their leader, would stop at nothing to prevent armistice, including killing her own grandchild. So, she must leave her son Kurtis with his father to be raised as a wizard. She left the infant on the steps of his father’s cottage then disappeared, also leaving behind the only man she’s ever loved.

Thirty years later, Niall is called home for his father’s funeral where he reunites with Amelie. When Kurtis’ life is put into danger, Niall and Amelie must face the demons of the past to protect him.

Neither can bring back the past, but can they have a future together? Will their son unite their people in peace?

Excerpt

The heavy conversation hung in the air as thick as the humidity. Amelie understood the pain of losing a parent, but what could she say to comfort Niall? “I didn’t mean to intrude, Niall. Professional hazard? My subjects are usually less lively.”

He let out an unrestrained chuckle. “Amelie, you have a wonderful sense of humor.”

“I’ve been accused of many things, Niall. Having a sense of humor is not one of them.”

He smirked, communicating an entire conversation with the knowing look in his eyes.

She blushed under his direct perusal. “If you didn’t come with the high school tours, what brought you to the university today?”

He looked away as if trying to conceal his discomfort. When he turned to face her, he wore a hesitant look on his face, biting at his bottom lip in a way she just knew was out of character. “It’s foolish. I had a fight with my father. He wants me to join the family business. I don’t.”

Niall paused, but Amelie could see he wanted to confide in her, so she waited for him to continue.

“I parked at the edge of campus and wandered around for a bit. When I saw the large crowd outside the hall, I got curious.”

She muffled a giggle behind her hand. “I bet you were surprised you’d walked into an anthropology information session.”

“I won’t lie. It was the last thing I expected.”

Bax always fantasized something remarkable would happen in his life. So when a decrepit man with glowing purple eyes offers him a ring intended for his estranged father, Bax accepts.

The ring speaks to Bax in a dream, tempting him with a vision of a powerful djinn. Desperate to make his fantasies a reality, Bax unleashes a creature called Ifrit, but soon learns this djinn isn't what the ring led him to believe. Feeding off the depths of his subconscious, the sinister demon fulfills what he thinks Bax wants by manipulating, threatening, and murdering. With everyone he loves in danger and a trail of crimes pointing back at him, Bax must scramble to solve the puzzle that will banish Ifrit forever.

Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

Always appreciate what you have. My main character gets into all kinds of trouble because he didn’t do that. Because he’s always waiting for something big to happen to him, he doesn’t truly appreciate all the good already in his life

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Falling in love with secondary characters or scenes that may or may not add much to the main story, but I just can’t part with them. That’s why I rely so much on trusted beta readers. If my best beta readers ask “Why is that scene there?” or “Do you need that character?” and I can’t answer--Delete!

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

I’ve written several to varying degrees of completion, but this is my first polished and published one. It is--by far--my favorite. I think every book or story I’ve written gets better than the last, so I’ll probably always think my most recent book is the best. If a writer doesn’t improve with each book, then they’re not fully developing their craft.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

Finn Wolfhard who plays Mike Wheeler in Netflix’s Stranger Things. A beta reader told me that’s who she pictured when we were discussing the book, and ever since that, I can’t shake it.

When did you begin writing?

In sixth grade, I wrote a science fiction story. Every Friday, I’d distribute 12 pages, comprised of three chapters, to my friends. I watched way too much tv as a kid, so of course, my story had cliffhangers right before school breaks and a climax at the end of the year like a season finale. A few years ago, my parents found those pages in a box in their basement and let me tell you, it was very entertaining to read how my sixth-grade self wrote a romance storyline!

How long did it take to complete your first book?

My books typically take me a year or two. I stress out about missing details, so I could never be one of those people who crank out a book every few months. I need to write it, step away, edit, rewrite, and repeat. And repeat. And repeat.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

John Irving. A Prayer for Owen Meaney was the first book I read that fundamentally changed how I looked at life. It was spiritual, without being religious. Inspiring, without being preachy. My dream is to write something like that one day.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

Writing a synopsis. There are probably writers out there reading this who are scowling at the screen right now, but I always second guess my ideas, so if I start with a complete plot arc in 2 pages or less, then I know I have something. Plus, it helps keep my story on track and focused without removing the exciting twists and turns of the writing process. I may detour, but I always know where I need to end up.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Wishes can be dangerous.

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

This novel centers around Bax, a fifteen-year-old who summons a sinister djinn who grants wishes from the depths of Bax’s subconscious, using whatever means necessary to make those desires real. The evil djinn brings to life the fleeting thoughts floating in Bax’s mind without regard for repercussions or consequences, no matter how greedy, selfish, or cruel they are, leaving Bax to pick up the pieces.

I’m currently working on a sequel which will pick up at the end of FROM BRICK & DARKNESS. There were a few plot lines I intentionally didn’t wrap up, so I’m already at work on the sequel, which will revisit Bax and the djinn-verse.

PROMO Blitz: Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin and the Synchronous Fireflies of the Great Smoky Mountains by Wayne A. Major & Raphine Major #promo #childrensbook @RABTBookTours

Adventures of Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin

Children's Book

Date Published: April 6th 2022

Publisher: Jan-Carol Publishing, Inc.

What animal can hold a child's attention better than a mischievous, cunning penguin?! Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin, is such a penguin. Despite her small size, she can be an example to children. Size is an obstacle only if you let it be. Penguins are some of the most entertaining animals on the planet! Come and join Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin, and her family as they enjoy the amazing synchronous fireflies in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee!

About the Authors

Wayne A. Major and Ralphine Major both grew up in Corryton on their family’s dairy farm in rural East Tennessee. Always surrounded by lots of animals, they developed a love for them at an early age. Both went on to graduate from The University of Tennessee with degrees in Business Administration. Wayne majored in Marketing and is retired from the State of Tennessee. Ralphine majored in Office Administration with a teaching certification, and is retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority. Though she has never had a journalism class, she uses her God- given talent as a contributing writer of a weekly true human-interest column for The Knoxville Focus ( www.knoxfocus.com ).

Years later, one Sunday morning Wayne was sitting in the choir at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, and something unexpected happened. He was listening to a sermon about David and Goliath that was directed toward the youth. Wayne heard a voice say, “You need to write children’s books.” He even turned to see where the voice came from. After hearing his story, Ralphine committed to the project as well. While the brother/sister duo had helped teach kindergarten classes at church and admired the children’s eagerness and willingness to learn, this was a new venture and a step of faith.

Getting published did not happen overnight, but it was worth the wait getting to work with Publisher Janie Jessee, Graphic Designer Tara Sizemore, and the staff of Jan-Carol Publishing, Inc. The authors believe the great chemistry they have with Illustrator Teresa Wilkerson is because she grew up on a dairy farm in East Tennessee also. Wayne created the character, Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin, which is a registered trademark. Ralphine vividly remembers how excited Wayne was when he shared about hearing a voice that Sunday morning in the church choir. She is happy to be a part of this adventure with Wayne and remembers well that Sunday night when they first talked about this journey that started in the church choir! The authors are proud to partner with two generous donors who have helped to put hundreds of books in the hands of children. God does work in mysterious ways! Throughout this process, Wayne and Ralphine have felt God’s hand guiding them and realize how important it is to wait on God’s timing. They hold firm to Proverbs 3:6 (KJV): “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Medical Thriller

Date Published: January 10, 2022

Publisher: MindStir Media

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

"Every Third Night" is an eye-opening yet poignant story that is set in a busy, dehumanizing and unyielding New York City residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1984. It brings the reader into the real world of medicine at a time of limited supervision and brutal duty hours through the vantage points of young physicians enduring stressful conflicts and volatile relationships.

Protagonist and chief resident Jimmy Zito seemingly has it all- brilliant clinical skills, handsome, a talented teacher, and a gorgeous girlfriend to boot- but a troubled past and a rash of new conflicts leave him struggling to survive in this, his last month of training. He desperately tries to guide his fellow residents through their own personal traumas, but is not nearly as well equipped to handle the pressure as others might think, especially considering the toxic and exhaustive work schedule, unchecked aberrant behavior of attending physicians, and the highly competitive and emotional demands of Ob-Gyn.

Intern Henry Deluca grapples with the consequences of a horrific surgical complication that he feels responsible for. Co-chief resident Greta Greenberg struggles with her personal dilemma in a busy abortion clinic. Best friend Mike O'Rourke is driven to madness by an unreasonable superior's callousness concerning a dying patient with ovarian cancer. And Kim Clark, Jimmy's occult but obvious love interest, is at wits end after constantly being tortured by her sadistic Chairman. Jimmy's ultra-needy girlfriend and stubborn father do not make things any easier. The intertwined subplots all mesh together and come crashing down when an unexpected, dramatic and haunting mishap leaves the program reeling and Jimmy's life forever transformed.
